Best photos yet of the new Discoprise - Studio Model

The official Star Trek twitter account tweeted out photos of Anovos' studio quality model of the new Discoprise and it looks fantastic. They really nailed this update. I'll have to see more of it but this could be my 2nd favourite Trek ship design after the refit.

Oh look, a bridge window. I think? Note the 'prototype model' things could change. It kind of looks like it's being bent under its own weight. I'm thinking it was a rush job so they could show it off.

Also Studio model is a bit of a misnomer, as they only made CG models.

This was made using the show's CG models, which I guess is why they're using that term.

Not really sure what that highlighted area is.


And if that's where the bridge is, does that mean that the sides windows will also be apparent on the bridge???

Not going to lie. I think spikes would like nice on the nacelles. Not just because of "The Cage" but spikes fit Disco.

One of the designers, not John Eaves I forgot his name, said he designed something to protect the bridge better then the other ships, maybe this is it.

BTW, there are also port-holes also on the bridge for looking outside. MULTIPLE bridge windows!!

Agreed, definitely a window of sorts. Maybe it has an opacity control? So it can go from translucent to opaque depending on environment and lighting? After all they overlay images on the bridge windows for DSC so fundamentally you could use it in both modes. Also seems like a cheap way of saying there is no "standard" bridge window but instead a "dynamic" one that can be turned on and off mimicking the whole not windows in prime thing. Regardless it is strange to look at.

Definitely, it's a bit small for a studio model, IF someone wanted to use it as such. Smallest Enterprise-D model was what, about 4 feet? This one is 35 inches long, less than 3 feet.

Still looks like they are, they're too low down to be part of the bridge.

Discovery has similar windows around the outside of its bridge, could be observation ports.

The port holes are about even with bottom part of the main window. If the window is NOT full height, ie, the floor of the bridge is a bit below the bottom of the window, then the port holes are in perfect position for various sitting stations on the bridge.

Discovery has similar windows around the outside of its bridge sphere, as did the Shenzhou, but there were no visable windows from the inside of the bridge.

The shenzhou's could be the captain's ready room, as it was to the side, but Lorca's ready room was behind the bridge.

Look how wide deck one is here, those could easily be corridors around the outside of the main bridge

Technical Details

• Measures 35" long x 16" wide x 8" tall.

• Our system uses a series of Neodymium magnets in both the pylons and nacelles to secure the nacelles. All electronics are handled with pin connections. This allows the nacelles to removed and attached at will.

  • Removable covers to bussard collectors, exposing engineering elements.
  • Extendable deflector dish to reveal illuminated deflector coil.
• Automotive-grade paints applied, using a multi-layer process to achieve Aztec panel effect.
• Custom-cut Discovery-style Starfleet non-split delta display stand, composed of machined aircraft aluminum and steel, with a total display height of 14”.
• Includes separate display plaque featuring starship's name and registry.
• Packaged in wooden prop box lined with convoluted foam.

Wonder how much this thing weighs. Also has removable nacelles, interesting. Too bad they didn't do it for the saucer section. That could have been a fun conversation
