There have been many Star Trek series over the years, each with its own opening, so which one did you like best? And should the ideal one have the "bodly go" speech, or can they omit it? Being a poll with so many options, you can vote for 2

By the way, ALL openings end with a ship going to warp and disappearing in the distance, with the only exception of Picard. Even Lower Decks did that, and did that unironically.

There, I said it.

I voted for both "TNG" and "Voyager". In retrospect, the "TNG" intro is fairly simple, just a few brief shots of various planets and the Enterprise, plus the cast names. But the music by the late Jerry Goldsmith (who sadly passed in 2004) perfectly set up the mood and sense of adventure for the whole show...and if memory serves, Paramount also re-used it for all four "TNG" films (I can't recall for sure - its been a while).

As for "Voyager", the intro was much more elaborate. The whole sequence had things like highly-detailed nebulas, planets, and various outer-space landscapes...not to mention several shots of Voyager itself from different angles. Goldsmith did the music for this as well, and the entire deal was actually recognized by the Emmys (the show itself was nominated 78 times, and won 20 awards).

I'm a Niner all the way, but I can't deny that I like the VOY opening a lot. I voted VOY and SNW.

DS9's opening doesn't have a ship going to warp. Season 1-3 a Runabout flies past camera. Season 4 onwards, the Defiant goes into the wormhole.

TOS --- original VFX and music, S2, hands down, it's not even close

runners up (in order):
SNW
TAS & other OG TOSes
DS9, final version
VOY
TNG S3+

Three; all bar Generations.

The Enterprise Mirror Universe episodes, Star Trek VI and Into Darkness.

My ranking of the 'before 2000 series' would be

VOY Grand orchestral opening and nice visuals, evokes great sense of anticipation,
ENT They took a risk with this one, some think it paid off, others not. At any rate, I like the historical sequence in this one leading up to the NX-01.
DS9 I really like the opening music, fairly standard fare otherwise
TOS The original, has this great 'we're going on an adventure, are you coming with us?' vibe
TNG The Picard reading and first images are mesmerizing, otherwise the second half of this intro is just the ship whooshing by, which makes it a bit dull. I'm a bit harsher on the 'whooshing by' in this one than with TOS, as in TOS it still was original.
