"Best of" Blu-rays?

Do any of you folks think that after season 7 and the inevitable "Complete 7 season Box set" is released that CBS video will release sets of a "best of" or themed nature?

"Best of Data"
"The Worf/Klingon Collection"
The Borg"
"Picard Collection"
"The Cardassians

I have a strange feeling that they will do this since it wouldn't require any additional restoration work--just new packaging.

Think it will happen?

Re: Best of Blu-rays?

Maybe, but don't the best-of sets include episodes from all the shows though? Best of Borg, Klingons, etc. They're probably not going to combine Blu-ray episodes with DVD episodes.

No they have had "best of" sets in the past that were show specific. They recently did a TOS Blu-ray "origins set."

Problem with TOS best of sets is that of all the series--- the one most likely the fans would already have ALL seasons of is the original.

Re: Best of Blu-rays?

I think "Best Of" sets are incredibly likely, especially if CBS wants to make money in retail stores (where cheaply priced, one-disc sets often far outsell complete series/season box sets by a huge margin).

Since all of TOS and TNG are in HD now, it's possible they'll package episodes of these series together, as well.

Of course, these are the sort of home video releases that are targeted at mass audiences on an impulse buy basis, so if they add any bonus features, expect them to be minor (along the lines of Rod Roddenberry's introductions on the Star Trek: Origins Blu-Ray release).

One thing I could see them doing is releasing all the movie-length edits Blu Rays into a single, slimmer package. So, "The Best of Both Worlds", "Redemption", "Unification" and "Chain of Command" (plus whatever one they do for Season 7, if they even do one for Season 7 at all) in a single box. They'd literally only need new packaging, and it'd be a keen way to shift unsold units.

Yeah, I can't imagine CBS would pass up the chance to do at least a TNG TV movies box set with all 10 double-length episodes. And I would probably buy it too, just to have "Time's Arrow," "Birthright," "Descent," and "Gambit" edited together -- and especially if they fix that tiny audio glitch in "Encounter at Farpoint" and replace those three early CGI shots that stick out now after replacing/improving them in subsequent episodes. :)

I started rebuilding my video library with dvd Fan Collective sets after I started buying dvds less than 5 years ago, prior to that everything I had was videotape. TOS and ENT are the only complete series I have right now, though 2 seasons of TOS are the new effects. So I can imagine something similar happening with Blu-ray packaging once all the shows are upgraded. I don't know if I'll ever switch to Blu though, since I don't have a 21st century television except for a tube set from 2006.

Very, very likely. Although don't expect to see "Farpoint" fixes!

Put me down for a complete TV Movies box-set. I can always eBay the separates I've got, to take the sting of it. As long as all the existing extras are ported over...

If CBS could see their way to throwing "Sins of the Father" in there, on the "Redemption" disc, uncropped.

Wish I could own early episodes from Enterprise's run, especially "Broken Bow" in 4:3, given the late in production switch to widescreen. But a) there's no demand really, and b) if those masters exist, they'd be SD I'd imagine.

What about the possibility of a best of Klingon set?

Heart of Glory, Matter of Honor, Emissary, Sins of the Father, Reunion, Redemption, Birthright etc.

A good chance for something like that?

Good to hear! And yeah, I figured the chances of any fixes to "Farpoint" VFX would be vanishingly small, given CBS's propensity to not touch previously "finished" VFX. The most they ever did was to add found film back in or re-render the Act I titles, as we saw with "Sins of the Father" and "The Inner Light."

But hey, I'll take what I can get!

Yep, titles were re-done to match the revised text color and homogenize things like title quotation marks across the seasons.

I haven't heard anything about themed sets, but it wouldn't surprise me. At the moment, there's nothing on the books (officially) for 2015, but that should be changing soon I'd wager.

I guess that we'll see at first a package deal of all special single releases BoTW etc. along with maybe an ALL-SEASONS package.

I would hope that if they would do a TV-movie box (or some "best ofs") it would bring some additional interest/feature like different audio tracks "TNG around the world" or even a Klingon dubbing ;).
I would also just settle for a Portuguese audio track but without any (such) addition besides putting the two parters together, I would not buy them as I have not bought the special sets on DVD for that reason.
