God, I always hated how Janeway was written for that episode. I know she was depressed and that it had to be shown on screen, but I hated how the writers handled it--or maybe how it was directed. No, on second thought, it was the dialogue. The only problem is, I'm not sure how it should've been written.

Oh and I'm sure this is long gone, but still my favorite line "there's coffee in the nebula" Which actually reminds me someone had used that line as an ad for starbucks or something in a fanfic story
All the good ones have been taken. But I too have happy memories of "There's coffee in that nebula." from 'The Cloud'. I LOVE that episode. When that episode aired Voyager could do no wrong in my eyes, and Janeway was my favorite Trek character. And then came this episode which was really all character development, done very well. I also loved the bit in that episode where Janeway and Tom talk about dogs. I'm not an animal person (though I do love raccoons), but that always felt like a really nice touch.

I'm not pulling them off their duties to prepare your ship for launch. And I'm not going drop you off on the side of the road every time we hit a bump. When we're finished, if you want to leave that's your business, but for the moment, find yourself a seat with a good view, because just like Jonah and the whale, you're going in.

Hi I'm new and I just love Janeway's quotes! A cute one from The Cloud: Janeway (to Chakotay): "You strike me as the bear-type." Another one from Survival Instinct Janeway: "It's got me by the hair!" And of course from Shattered: Janeway (to Chakotay): "Just how close do we get?"
