Best Episode of Deep Space Nine, Round One

As those of you who frequent it may have noticed, the Next Generation forum has been running a 'best episode' democratic round based selection process. Spider reckoned we should spread this across the series forums in the hope of eventually collating them into an ultimate 'Best. Episode. Ever.' poll in GTD. I reckoned I'd get the ball rolling with a DS9 version, my favourite series. This is round one, you get to pick 10 episodes from each season (to avoid spamming up a forum I don't mod I've done all 7 seasons in one thread, unlike Spider's multi-thread format, so sorry if its a bit hard to figure out!)
I don't know how enthusiastic people will be so as its a bit of a pilot scheme idea i haven't set an end date, I'll see how popular it turns out to be.

Waltz and Far Beyond the Stars are two of my favorite episodes, though.

The Wire (And nothin' else, lest I stack the odds against Garak's best ep. too early.)

Improbable Cause & The Die is Cast (see The Wire)
I also voted for the season's underrated Ferengi episodes.

Accession is an essential but always overlooked Sisko, Kira, and Bajor story.

Magnificent Ferengi (The best Ferengi episode of any series)

I voted. It was kind of easy to get ten for each season and tried to get at least one underrated Gem from each. I'll just mention those since they might be eliminated anyway but should get mentioned just cause:

Season 1 - Past Prologue
Season 2 - Cardassians
Season 3 - Equalibrium
Season 4 - Body Parts
Season 5 - Things Past
Season 6 - The Sound of Her Voice
Season 7 - Probably the only season I didn't go for the underrated vote.

^ I actually voted for three (or maybe even four) of those episodes as well. I'm 100% certain I voted for Cardassians, Equilibrium, and The Sound of Her Voice. I also think I may have voted for Past Prologue.

So far Duet, Tribbles, and Sacrifice of Angels are tied for the lead.
Hands of the Prophets, Die is Cast, Call to Arms, Pale Moonlight, and the finale are right behind them.

Ascent, Begotten, and Change of Heart are the only ones left without votes.

That's even more impressive. That almost every episode made the top 50% of each season for someone. That shows a lot of quality writing with very few awful episodes.

This was harder than I thought it would be. I struggled to choose 10 episodes in the 1st and 2nd seasons that were good enough to vote for. By season 5, I had a very difficult time narrowing it down to 10 choices. I wish I could could the occupation and final arcs as single episodes since each arc is one continuous story. My favorites for each season are:

I wasn't paying attention and just picked 10 episodes over all. That was REALLY hard.

The way I understand the poll, though, this just the first round. Like with the TNG-vote, 10 episodes of each season are going to make it to the 2nd round which will narrow down the choice even more until in further rounds the ultimate best episode of DS9 is found. I think it's a bit premature to predict the best episode of DS9 just from this poll alone because the real gems weren't pitted against each other yet...
