I tried to limit myself to one from each series. I see some tried to limit to just 30 characters. If you vote for every single DS9 character are you voting for a character or a series? Maybe there should have been a limit to 3 votes.
interesting poll. All the series have spikes (TOS - Spock, VOY - Seven, etc) except for DS9 where nearly all the characters have a fair number of votes. Think that says something for the series' character development and the actors themselves.
Either that or it says something about fans who will vote for the likes of Rom and Lite while trying to make sure that even the worst characters in Trek gets votes as long as they appeared on DS9.

Why should the number of votes be limited? And who decides to which number? What if someone has 4 characters they absolutely love, and someone else has 10, and someone else has 15, while someone just has 1 or 2? Everyone has the right to determine the number of characters they want to vote for, which is the fairest way.
And why would people be limited to how many characters they can vote for from a show? It only makes sense that people prefer the series where they like the characters better overall, or where there are more characters they like/find interesting/relate to. Maybe they like 5 or 8 characters from one show, and just 1 or 2 from another, or they dislike all characters from another show.
And if you're going to bring up the poster who voted for every single DS9 character in the Best characters poll, then why don't you also bring up the poster who voted for every single DS9 character in the Worst Trek characters poll? it was a poster who says she dislikes DS9 and finds it boring and has therefore never seen much of it, so I doubt that she is even that familiar with all the characters listed in that poll, including the recurring ones. But everyone has the right to vote whichever way they like.
I happen to think that Rom is one of the worst Trek characters and Leeta is not much better, but I like almost every other character from DS9 - because I think they were all well developed, even those I disliked or found boring in the beginning (like Bashir) developed nicely later. This is one of the main reasons why it's my favorite Trek series. And if I were to pick my top 10 Trek characters, there are 6 DS9 characters who would have to be there. Heck, if I were to pick my top 5, there would be 4 out of DS9.
