Best Captain(With Poll)

Hmm. Interesting poll. Must be a lot of younger folk here these days. I remember seeing polls like this in years past and usually Kirk would do much better.
I picked Kirk but I like Sisko and Picard a lot too.
Archer was a big bore (though I like the actor) and Janeway was horribly written imo. I'd never want to serve under her.

Actually, If I were translating some English text to Croatian and stumbled upon the word "Boobie," I would probably use the word "Sisko." (ENG. Boob = CRO. Sisa, I guess the Russians have something similar)That would make 'The Sisko'... 'The Boobie'?
I guess that makes 'Sisko's Restaurant' 'Boobie's Restaurant'?

This must be one of the toughest polls ever, they've been everywhere and people have always voted for their favourite as you'd expect, based on what they've seen, what they know, what they think and what they understand to be a Starfleet Captain.
I choose Kirk, he, in my opinion, is the best Starfleet Captain out of all, he is trained and designed to be better at nothing else.
If I had to rank them, it would be;

Picard
Archer
Sisko
Janeway
And this may be insulting to all of these people obsessed with Sisko, but don't take it that way, I love that guy, and he was a great Commander, and probably even better as a Captain. Same with Janeway, she was pretty damn good, but its always the process of elimination for me, who is the least best? And thats Janeway for me, my judgement is probably swayed for my favourite series (being in a similar order to whom I've picked my Captains).

I'm curious as to why you picked Archer? I ask only because the writers often depicted him as a whining petulant child.
Again, I'm curious as to one would say that Archer was better than Sisko or Janeway? To me the writers seemed to go out of their way to destroy his character.
To me, it seemed like Archer learned the most as a Captain. He could be stubborn and he certainly had character flaws, but the character in late season 3, early season 4 was much better than season 1. Still, I'd probably pick him fourth or fifth, but it's not out of left field for someone to pick him.

The thing everybody forgets is that after Sisko says "I'm not Picard" Q responds by saying "Yes, you're much easier to provoke."
It wasn't necessarily supposed to be a good thing. I mean, why does Q care if someone punches him?
It's terribly hard for me to choose between Kirk and Picard, but I think I have to go with Kirk.

In my humble opinion Kirk and Picard were so far above all the rest that it seems criminal to include the rest of them in a conversation about the best captain ever.
