Collection of all seasons. You are reviewing the performance of how well the actor handles the material through all seven seasons. Who is the most believable? To which actor would you give the award of having the best raw acting ability?

Avery Brooks, Colm Meaney, and Nana Visitor are in a tier of their own, ahead of the rest. However, I think Nana Visitor edges slightly ahead. I always found her portrayal of Kira to be completely believable, and she showed the character growth well.

This is a tough one for (and it's my thread). I mean, you have to look at the difficulty of the character. Nana Visitor starts as a cold and emotionally closed character and progresses into a strong and independent woman who has developed beyond the hatred and prejudice of her past. She is a smart, believable leader and establishes a character so powerful that she continues to be interesting in post-series novels. She also has a natural progression (rise and fall) with personal relationships that is completely believable.

Avery Brooks is another interesting character and he plays the Emissary very, very well; there's a sense of reverence and understanding as he grows to a point where you trust him without reserve. There's also a darker side to Sisko, a Machiavellian side that we never see in Archer, Janeway or Picard... this, too, is very well played.

This is a tough one but I'm going to run with Nana Visitor for having the most radical and believable transformation in terms of relationships, prejudice, a terrible past and genuine humanity all coming through in her acting.

It's impossible to pick just one since all of the best actors/actresses performed the role they were given immaculately. Additionally, some choices on the Poll should not even be up there (Kira, Jadzia), as the master actors of DS9 blow them out of the water, pathetically hard.

As well, the Poll is missing some of the master peformances like Kai Winn and Weyoun and Brunt.

I have no way to determine who gave the best acting performance out of Andy Robinson, Armin Shimerman, Rene Auberjonois, Jeffrey Combs (in all his roles), Louise Fletcher, or Marc Alaimo. Every single one of them is immaculate in every single scene, and performed their roles to the utmost of human potential.

Of the main cast, Nana Visitor was the best actor, IMO. However, since you included Garak, he wins my vote.

BTW, where did Ezri go?

Nana Visitor got my vote.

Second, for me, goes to Avery Brooks
Third to Andrew Robinson.

But really, there are not any weak links in DS9, as far as I'm concerned.

In the words of Ike Broflowski, Avery Brooks' acting makes me want to puke my balls out through my mouth.

I went with Andrew Robinson.

Auberjonois, Alaimo, and Meaney would be my top three. But I think I'd give it to Rene, merely because of how clearly difficult a role like that of Odo would be, and how well he plays it. I don't think there was ever a time when his performance was anything less than completely believeable.

It's impossible to pick just one ...
Totally agreed. I can't decide between Avery Brooks (excellent theatrical acting), Rene Auberjonois, Colm Meaney, Andrew Robinson, Marc Alaimo and Jeffrey Combs (who I really miss in this poll). All of them were simply awesome above average actors who seemed like they could make any scene, any script interesting. Seriously, I could watch any of those simply sitting on a chair, staring into the camera and doing absolutely nothing. And I would love it.

And PKTrekGirl is quite correct, there isn't one weak link in the whole cast of Deep Space Nine.

Oh, and just for the heck of it I voted Avery Brooks in this poll. Maybe I can irritate some haters.

I went with Armin Shimerman, but it's a huge toss-up for me. He did a great, convincing job with Quark, and in my mind Quark kind of is DS9.

I'd also say Colm Meaney. Because O'Brien is a down-the-middle kind of guy, in some ways it could be a harder character. He doesn't have any outrageous personality or background traits to draw on. No special powers, no villanous agenda. And yet O'Brien is as likeable and interesting as any of those characters, and deeper than some. DS9's everyman family guy could have been bland and boring, but he never is.

But I can't really put them ahead of the rest. The other Ferengi, the recurring villians and other characters were all of such a high consistency. The show really breathes.

Ezri wasn't included because she wasn't there long enough :). Not fair to run her up against actors who had to stay fresh and interesting for 7 seasons. A few others didn't make the cut-- though Weyoun may have been a fair add---- feel free to "vote" for others not on the list ad hoc in your replies.

Avery Brooks acting =

People who like his acting don't know what good acting is.

People who use silly pictures to get their point across just don't know better.

Actually Avery Brooks is a very good actor... and he was excellent in American History X, as well.
