Beloved episodes you hate/Reviled episodes you love

I, Borg is painfully dull and I don't agree with the decision made in the "moral dilemma" either.

Without question, I would have pulled the trigger on that virus and not lost a wink of sleep at night.

No apologies.

Yeah, Hugh participated in an unprovoked attack on the Federation. You're an enemy soldier and the war needs to be won.

But I love the episode.

I Borg shows just tone deaf the producers were. It was not the followup to The Best Of Both Worlds that we were waiting for. The story in I Borg could have featured any alien race. To waste the Borg in such a soft episode was a jump the shark moment for TNG in my view.

I think Relics is vastly overrated. At the time is was pretty epic to see TNG do such a loving tribute to TOS, but looking back, the episode doesn't amount to much other than a scene on the holodeck where Scotty recreates the old bridge.

I don't think Damon Bok is recognized for his awesomeness nearly enough. Both The Battle & Bloodlines are in very good favor with me, & I think I actually rank him higher among revisited characters than most people would, just above Moriarty

I'm also pretty fond of Emergence, though I never see much love for it

While I honestly don't hate it, because it does have an interesting underlying premise, I don't rank Yesterday's Enterprise as highly as most people do. The majority of the episode is fluff with Denise Crosby that really stifles the whole thing & Christopher MacDonald doesn't do much to help that along any. They kill the momentum of the episode imho. They'd have been better off having more Rachel Garrett, & even she was a little on the 2nd rate side of the acting class. IMHO, it's Stewart & Goldberg that keep that thing on track. Were it not for them, that episode goes belly up, even with a really good concept at its core

Yesterday's Enterprise is entertaining, but woefully over rated. It was the original "reset button- the last hour never happened" episode (that seemingly many VOY episodes were later modeled on).

I'm another who really hates Conspiracy, probably the worst episode of the entire show.

I can understand not liking an episode, any episode, but to consider it the worst episode of the entire series? Wow! There are so many more fitting choices.

"The Royale".

Worf talking to room service, Picard's phobia of revolving doors, Data gambling. So much to love. I guess the episode is disliked because it's part of season two, got rewritten by Hurley, and isn't particularly Star Trek-y, but I think it's a lot of fun.

I agree. That episode is great fun. It's like a holographic program based on a trashy crime drama. It's really not meant to be anything other than what it is. Just roll with it and enjoy.

TNG in general is my favorite Star Trek show, so I actually enjoy lots of its episodes that are generally considered bad. I like for example lots of season 1 episodes, also, or maybe even especially "Justice". I know it's weird looking and such, but in terms of its message it's actually a Star Trek episode from the book in my understanding.

Another episode that always comes to my mind when there's discussion like that is "Sub Rosa". Here again, it might be weird, but I actually like it. It's an interesting character episode for Beverly Crusher who is in general a strong and in my impression often underrated character. In that sense, I also want to name "Suspicions" as an episode I like a lot, though I'm not sure if that one is generally seen as a reviled episode.

As for beloved TNG episodes I don't like, I can actually think of none at the moment :D I think there are actually very few episodes from this show I wouldn't enjoy, and I have already rewatched some of those I didn't like too much in the first place, and it turned out that they were actually far better than I had remembered.

I'm with you on what you said about S1. Not nearly as bad as some make it out to be.

That said, I can't support you on "Sub Rosa" or especially "Suspicions." I hate the latter episode so much, I've never even seen it in its entirety. Beverly Crusher never did it for me. She was always very bland and uninteresting. She makes Travis Mayweather look like James Kirk or Elam Garak.

I don't see Sub Rosa like that at all for what should be obvious reasons. Suspicions and the one where she gets trapped in Wesley's warp bubble are much better and much more appropriate character studies for her character.

Love: The Royale. 10 year-old me was hooked the moment they beamed up the NASA debris.

Hate: Redemption. All the TNG Worf eps. Meh.

Agreed on both. The Klingon stuff got old after "Heart of Glory" and "Matter of Honor." Both of those early episodes did it well...everything else just felt blah.

If they did feel blah it was because they were done to death both on TNG and DS9, often by Ron Moore. I did enjoy Apocalypse Rising on DS9 because it was less political and more adventure.

I totally agree. I thought it was really creepy how the casino was surrounded by blackness and I really felt bad for the astronaut that had to live out his days there. Playing out the ending of the book for them to exit didn't make much sense. Definitely a highlight of the second season for me.

I wouldn't say I love "Sub Rosa," but I think it's a nice change of pace, and I don't understand the hate it always seems to get.
