B'Elanna's ridges...when did they change?

Her eyebrows changed which is what could be giving the perception that her forehead changed.

If you noticed in the photo's posted, the "Caretaker" shots have Be'Lanna with bushy thicker eyebrows, when in later seasons the eyebrows became thinner and closer to human more so than Klingon.

Even George Clooney trims his eyebrows several times a month.

Just look at the "thick bushiness" of his eyebrows from Red Surf to how he appears in Out of Sight. That guy definitely got a makeover!

If there's a difference there I rerally can't see it. There are about 7 years difference so it can simply be a change in the actress's face.

I think another change, that might make it seem like the ridges are different is the hair color change. It went from black in season one to brown in season two onwards. The reason it's black in some season two episodes is because they were filmed during season one.

Yeah, there was a change. I think it was for cosmetic (pun intended) reasons. I think that TPTB, in an attempt to bring in more of that young male demographic, decided to de-Klingon her slightly, making her slightly more softer and feminine (in the human sense).

...And perhaps the character herself thought on the very same lines, deciding to cater for the somewhat juvenile chief helmsman?

Hm...she lost a ridge:

Season 1. 4 cranial ridges / fairly pronounced nasal bridge

End of Season 7: Three ridges, "lighter", and not as much os a nasal bridge

And now, side by side:

Looks like that to me, too... I wonder what all that makeup did to her hair? (Is that a wig?)

Incidentally, note the apparent full Lt pip on her in the first pic, as opposed to the half-black Lt(jg) one on the second!

That's a wig, for sure.
Yeah, it is.

Roxanne usually keeps her hair very short, almost like the shape of Major Kira's but in a very different style.

Definitely a wig. Aside from all the pics of her out of makeup that makes it obvious how much shorter her real hair usually is, I distinctly remember reading an either an interview or a con report where she talked about how delicate her wig and makeup were.

I just did some skimming on Trek Core and it looks like "Persistence of Vision" is the first episode to feature the three-ridge look.

Looks like it. That was the fourth filmed episode of season two.

She's got the lighter hair, but the wierd hairline to show off the fourth ridge. The images from a few eps before had the darker hair (I didn't see any pics of her for the Kim on Earth ep).

Hairline isn't the smooth U seen in later episodes, but they got rid of the fourth ridge. I'm guessing they were messing around with her look for the first half dozen episodes, since it looks like her hair is shorter here, but that could be the angle.

Hairline seems smoother.

MOD Edit: Changed the pictures to links. Hotlinking is not allowed, as it is stealing bandwidth from somebody elses site.

Probably when someone realized how unflattering a high forehead is.

I recall a friend commenting on Torres action figure and how it looked less like a Puerto Rican boy than the actual character. Ouch.

Nice bigoted remark that was.

Not only is it bigoted, it's sexist, too. Guess MeanJoePhaser's friend is not only a bigot and misogynist, but a fool -- and Joe is an accomplice! What a, uh, surprise!

Oh, the easily offended people online. I read and overhear stuff everyday that makes that comment pretty minor.

I didn't say I agreed with him, it was just something I remembered. I can't say how bigoted or misogynist that guy currently is, haven't seen him in years. But I'm sure all your friends are squeaky clean purehearts, right?

I'm not easily offended. But I do take offense when warranted. I (and others) simply don't appreciate stupid comments like that. Whenever I get a chance, I'll call out such comments as the foolish remarks they are. At the very least, your taste in "friends" is questionable. And at the very least, your friend is an idiot, and at worst, a racist misogynist. If you don't want to read responses like mine and the other poster's, then don't repeat dumb remarks. Pretty simple equation, eh, MeanJoe?

Are you being flip or you really don't know? "Puerto Rican boy." Attacking Roxanne Biggs Dawson's ethnic heritage (and getting it wrong, I believe -- she's of Mexican descent), indicating MeanJoe's friend thinks all Latinos are Puerto Rican; and saying she looked like a boy, indicating the friend has a limited definition of what a woman looks like. Clear now?

However, MeanJoePhraser didn't say it himself, his former friend did. MJP also pointed out the he himself didn't take kindly to the comment.

Red Ranger , I understand how a comment such as that could upset you but you're putting blame on the wrong people. Nobody here condones it or approved of it.

Chill bro.
