Re: Being Human 1x01 BBC Three

Well off the top of my head I can think of a few:

All the fat builders from the first episode
Everything the police officer does in the first episode
The fact they're shouting "give me weed" on college green is a no no
The fact most of the girls are complete sluts, I know it's suppost to be TV but it gets annoying after a while.
The third episode where johnny says Bristol has no ambition
Johnny's bristolian bodyguards

Just a few things that I noticed over the last few episodes :P. As for Cook, I think he's the only character I'm warming up to at the moment, I mean Effy and Pandora we already sort of know, but when Cook had his little crazy moment in his episode I thought that was really good, but everyone else seems fake and obvious, and if you compare it to the last two series' then you can see the simalarities

The 'gay' couple that was planted in the first episode (Maxxie)
Cook seems to be a more extreme Chris, even down to who deals him drugs.
Effy is obviously going to have something the same as Tony's storylines (redemption)
JJ is going to be the luckless virgin of the series (Sid)
Frankie is going to be the jealous friend of someone who gets the 'hot main girl' (Sid)

But it's only 3 episodes in, I might end up being wrong.

Most of them (beside Bristol has no ambition) I didn't see as digs at Bristol, just as the characters/the type of show it is.

I don't know Cook seems like a cross between Tony and Chris to me. Tony's confidence, to the point of fucking up royally, and Chris' anything for a laugh and drug habit.
JJ doesn't seem to be the Sid of the bunch to me either. I don't think he really fits any of the characters.
Pandora kinda seems like the Cassie of the bunch, but then again I don't really see any of them fitting as a match for any of the other characters.
I think it's going to end up going totally different to how it seems to be set up to be going. I reckon JJ and Pandora will shag, but not get together, Frankie and Effy will end up together, but I'm just guessing.

Re: Being Human 1x01 BBC Three

Well the Freddy (keep getting that wrong) and Effy thing is going to go on past the first series, with Frankie and Cook will make amends for Cook having his way with Effy. JJ and Pandora though, I'm sure Pandora will get with Thomas, because he hasn't left the series.

But yeah thinking about it, Cook has some Tony in him too, but I do believe he is what they wanted Chris to be like in the first series. You touched on people matching which is something I really wanted to bring up, living in Bristol and going through school and college (even attending the same college it's implied that they do), the characters "lables" of their own personality wouldn't match to the others. Now I can go with Cook, JJ and Freddy being friends because it was said that they have been for years, and Pandora and Effy because they were lumbered with eachother.

But none of them would hang out with each other, from what I can see, Cook and Freddy (and maybe JJ) I would lable as a chav, while Naomi and the lesbian twin are more scene/emo, and they really don't mix together, especially in Bristol.

But that's only my narrow minded view on the matter, it strikes me odd how every group of friends on these tv shows HAS to have someone that is gay, ethnic, or a virgin.

Re: Being Human 1x01 BBC Three

Just to quote something from last nights episode:

"We lost 7-0 again" - Bristol Rovers player.

I'm not sure if he's suppost to be a reserve player (I didn't know Rovers even had a reserve team, just a youth team), and even though I don't suppost Bristol Rovers (I'm a City fan), I don't think they've lost 7-0 in a looong time.

Re: Being Human 1x01 BBC Three

Again, I don't think that's supposed to be a comment on Bristol so much as comment on the characters. But then maybe I'd think differently if it was set in Hull and there was things that seemed like digs at people/places/stuff in Hull.

Probably, I'm hoping Cook will change now, because he seemed different after him and Pandora got together.

And also, just to point out some sheer stupidness from the directors, they fell through the other side of the cuboard to next door, but the very next scene when it shows Freddie going in to the house, it's a detached house...

Fail.

 I noticed that too. Pretty stupid mistake... unless it was meant to be a hidden room in Pandora's house, but they pretty specifically said they were next door.

Haha yeah, plus how would the guy from Vicar of Dibley even get there? There are lots of really bad continuity errors in this series, the second episode for example, the times that doughnut changed shape and colour is beyond me.

Maybe they're doing it on purpose. I mean Harry Enfield is a director on the show, maybe he's trying some sight gags out in his directing?

Re: Being Human 1x01 BBC Three

Well I'm sure the bit at the start of the episode was requested by Harry.

"I love you"
"Sorry mate, I don't do that... I'm straight, no cock."

Re: Being Human 1x01 BBC Three

Last night's episode wasn't quite what I expected from the preview, and I actually got a laugh out of a few parts, like George shouting in to the street "Pedo has one E not 2." I'm actually beginning to hope it's picked up for a second series now.

Re: Being Human 1x01 BBC Three

^ Katie's boyfriend (Johnno? Tommo? Gazzo? I love it cos that's how footballers are with nicknames) plays for some of kind of youth side I think. Not as high up as the reserve side at any rate.

Crazy vampire eeeevil stuff and creepy ghost haunting coming up in BH. Liked that a lot. Also, in the pilot the lead vampire was a sinister, suave black guy - is that character still around being played by someone else or is he gone completely?

Can this thread some get renamed to Bristol Comedy-Drama Thread or something? Seeing, as you know we're spoiling two shows at once now :D

Yeah, the white cop/vampire is playing that role now. Weird I know going from Adrian Lester to that guy, but I guess this is why the pilot doesn't count any more.

Re: Being Human 1x01 BBC Three

The pilot doesn't count... but you pretty needed to see it to understand the whole premise and background of all 3 characters when episode 1 aired hahaha.

I guess that's why there's a recap in the first ep, just to show what counts. I think they wanted to get in to the series without having to have to retell the pilot, but didn't want to count everything from the pilot. I think they said the pilot might be a bonus on the DVD, but it's never going to be shown on TV again.

From TubeTalk

Going to series now, what would you say are the main changes from the pilot?
"Obviously there's the cast changes which is mainly to do with the slight tonal shift we wanted to make. It's a natural part of the developmental process from a pilot to a full series that changes are made, and this involved developing the characters over a six episode run. Particularly we wanted to be slightly less gothic and slightly more rooted. In the pilot I felt there were one or two scenes, like the Herrick storyline, which felt like they were from a slightly different show. We wanted to pull back on that and root it in reality a bit more. Part and parcel of that was to make it a bit funnier as well, to sharpen up the comedy. Basically it's a case of trying to improve what's already there."

Where does the pilot fit into the story going forwards then?
"The pilot has been put on the shelf and won't be transmitted. It might turn up as a DVD extra at some point but it is essentially a new show. We're reintroducing all of the characters and we're assuming that the audience has no knowledge at all of the pilot. So for the people who watched the pilot and liked it, they will see the characters they know and love return, and the story is sufficiently different that I hope that they won't be bored, but it's very much presented for an audience who haven't seen the pilot. The pilot was a useful exercise that we've learnt a lot from, but essentially we've now put that to one side and we've remade the show. It's kind of a reboot, if you like."

Just finished watching last night's ep, and I'm really starting to like Jim's character. Seems like, if anything, Cook is worse than Tony, if they're going to try and redeem him what are they gonna do? It took Tony being hit with a bus to make him redeemable.
We've had mention of Tony, Sid and Anwar now, looks like they're trying to show no-one's been forgotten, but you have to wonder how they'll get mention of anyone else in there.

^ Easy. Michelle's mum probably married all their dads, Cassie probably sold them all drugs, Chris probably smoked the drugs with all of them and EVERYONE knows Posh Kenneth!

I know that's probably what it was designed for, but after tonight's episode of Being Human is anyone else wondering if they've even left it open for the possibility of a second series?

Nah that was just another classic example of no one being better than the BBC at making penultimate episode cliffhangers!

I do like that the trail for next week's ep didn't actually spoil any of the cliffhanger too. No indication of whether Mitchell and Annie are still around, amd George sounding like he's about to go off the deep end. Good work BBC Three :techman:
