I'm like two months late, but Jesus Christ... what the hell did they do after the pilot? :p
I almost wish I didn't watch it. I must say I like the original actors more, but I have no idea if that's just because I watched them first or if I just think that the original actors are better.
Between the original ghost and the girl from Sugar Rush, the original was just less... annoying.

And maybe it's just me, but if I were to sell the series, I'd call it a British Angel.
That seemed to be the reaction of most of us.
The series does improve and now I think it's fantastic but seeing the difference between the pilot and the series just kinda makes you think "what the fuck did they change it for?"

Well, I didn't like the actor that played the original Annie, and that blue aura around her? If she's a ghost theres no need to push it in our faces.

Being Human has been recommissioned for an 8 episode series.

Excellent, this is good news. There is much untapped potential in this show, there's room for this to really go places.

The 1 hour format is great too, you can tell your story so much better with those extra 17 minutes.

In the version of the pilot I watched, the ghost didn't have the aura around her so I didn't have that problem.
I think it's because I just watched the whole thing of Sugar Rush and I think I can't stand that girl anymore.

I'm glad it gets better. I just need to get over the shock of the whole thing changing and then I'm sure it'll grow on me. I'm glad it's not another Survivors anyway. :p

She never had an aura, the promotional pics did, but in the show I don't remember her ever having an aura.

What was wrong with Survivors? I liked it. Wasn't as good as I hoped, but it turned out fairly good.

The one thing you have to do when making a show about survivors of an apocalypse is make the cast likable.
Good example - Shaun of the Dead.
I just couldn't stand the main cast on Survivors... from the holier than thou WE HAVE TO BE BETTER BECAUSE WE'RE ALL THAT'S LEFT lead character to the bisexual suicidal doctor to the convicted murderer. Probably the only people who were just written as people and not as archetypes were the kid and the rich dude.

I mean, I love these stories... DMZ and Y: The Last Man being the most recent "living in a destroyed world" texts that I've read. It just didn't really work this time around.

I don't know, didn't particularly bother me too much, I kinda like the idea that the best people to root for in the post apocalypse are still wankstains you wouldn't want to socialise with.

Wankstains.
It just felt more contrived than it needed to be. I was like, "well, at least there aren't any religious freaks" and then boom.

I believe that religious nut episode was from the original series. I may be wrong but I seem to remember a similar episode.

Ah, I suppose they are beholden to the old series. I dunno, it wasn't Bonekickers bad if that means anything. ;)

I'm loosing all hope in Skins now, the JJ episode actually looks like a good one.

I had a thought yesterday, I think the cliffhanger of this series is Cook saving Freddie from something and getting injured himself (for example, a store robbery and Freddie is about to be shot, but Cook jumps in the way). I don't know why, but seeing JJ's teaser just made me think about that over and over.

I've only just started watching this weeks episode, but it seems more like the set up for an American Teen comedy than the usual Skins.

Not really enjoying the show, really enjoyed series 1 and 2 after my gf made me watch them but series 3 is written OTT the time like the teachers and the college turning into a warzone after cook won. oh yeah I hate him, utter chav scum. Walking ASBO. JJ is dull and should have the word "bitch" tatooed on his forehead

I like Emily and Naomi, its told fairly well of a girl that has mixed up feelings that guards her feelings. Freddie and Effi, don't care.

Being human is excellent, missed the start but got it ordered on DVD

I don't know, I still like it. It is more OTT than previously but I'm hoping once they get in to the 4th series they'll tell some serious stories rather than these (mostly) try hard to top ourselves attempts.

The first two episodes of series three were pretty bad, but it's improved since then. The latest one was pretty good. The Naomi/Emily stuff was well written and quite sweet, but I wasn't really convinced by the chemistry between them. I thought Naomi had more chemistry with Cook and even with Father Dougal.

The whole school riot was really annoying and ridiculous and took my out of the show, but I suppose Skins exists in a kind of hyper reality where things like that happen (and where no one ever gets a hangover and Pandora can swallow a whole bag of nameless drugs and suffer no ill effects.)

I don't completely hate it but the quality has dropped. Before these fantasy/OTT like events would not happened.
I'm fairly certain they did, just not to that extent. Just look at Chris' house after his mum left, or the amount of people in his tiny flat in series 2. Or how Cassie managed to just appear in New York, find the nicest possible cabbie who helped her out, then a guy who gave her a flat and then she found work without a work permit or anything.
There's plenty of fantasy/OTT stuff in Skins, this "riot" was just a bit more pronounced.

There was a lot of it in Series 1, but that died down in series 2 because we had gotten to know the characters a lot more than we did before. The writing when it comes to Sid's dad dying after finally getting his retribution, Tony's complete dedesign of himself and Michelles guilt over the whole situation, Chris' death after refusal to stop taking drugs.

I remember when I first watched Skins, I was fresh out of college at the time it was about to air so I thought I would watch it, and to be perfectly honest I hated it, but after the latter end of series 1 and the whole of series 2 I couldn't wait to see the next episode, and I hope series 3 and 4 are going to do the same (but at the moment it seems doubtful).

Things like the riot after Cook won the election was utterly pointless, another cheap dig at Bristol in my opinion. All those students that went crazy would have been immediately expelled if they did that at my college (which happened to be on College Green), and I don't think Naomi and Emily have any chemisty together at all.

But I see comments about JJ being a "bitch", but I think he's got characteristics of autism or some other disorder that is mostly unheard of in teen circles, I heard the phrase "I'm attaching myself again" in JJ's teaser trailer and the official one I saw earlier today, and it made me wonder if JJ unintentionally attaches himself to a friend, or someone he idolises.

But then again, we'll see what happens next week :).

Are we missing an episode? Effy's isn't suppost to be the one before the finale, what would be the point in leaving the leading cast members episode to last? The point in having Tony the centre of the first episode was to establish his leadership and connections within the cast, Effy hasn't had that.

To be honest, I didn't watch the first series when it aired, because I saw the Tony episode and hated it. Tony isn't exactly the attract you to the show, I think it's the same with Effy, but they've realised it this time.
It wasn't until a load of people told me it was great that I bothered using 4oD to watch past that, right before the second series started.
Sketch was OTT, "Then came the day Osama blew us away" was too. Even in the more grown up second series there was still plenty of over the top fantasy elements. But I do agree the riot was a bit much. Although I can't say I saw that as a dig at Bristol either, I mean I never even thought it could be seen that way until you mentioned it. Seemed to be more another element of the "American Teen Comedy" feel the whole student election thing seemed to be going for.

As for the autism thing, my best friend at school has aspergers, he went on to college and uni, so I wouldn't think it is so strange. JJ does seem to have his issues though, it'll be interesting to see a bit more about him other than "Cook's bitch".

Yeah at the moment I sort of like the JJ character because he's stuck in the middle of two of his best friends and doesn't really know where to turn.

As for the dig's at Bristol, I suppose if it were set in your town you might make those sort of connections, I'm sure they don't mean anything by it but I just sort of get annoyed when they do things like that with no punishment. I almost got expelled for missing class to go bowling once.
