Being Erica - Season 3

The first part of the episode was just too showcased around the car. "I bought a new Ford Fiesta!" then the commercial-like shots of them driving around in it and then using the Sync system with the phone. Ugh. Erica and Julianne were about two seconds away from talking about Stryde Gum.

Great news... Being Erica has been renewed for a fourth and final season.

The show will return for a fourth season, but when remains to be seen. If previous premiere dates are any indication, the new season will probably debut in early fall in Canada.

It’s true.

Season 4 is the end. It’s important to Aaron and I to be able to finish the story in a way that is satisfying to our audience. This is going to be a big year for Erica, and by the end of it – she will have finished the journey she started…

so glad i found this forum. i'm not a trekky, but am a sci-fi fanatic. i found Erica on hulu and have been diligently getting caught up to season 3, episode 4 - the one where Leo is abused in college.

this show is so great. i will say that this episode actually taught me something. i have had feelings of wanting to do something drastic (i.e. forwarding the brent video), and though i didn't do it, i always felt that (not going through with it) was a failure because i was afraid of getting caught or people thinking badly of me for doing the deed.

however, when Dr. Tom talked about how doing something violent leads to more of those acts, and eventually, you are just desensitized to it, I actually felt proud that i hadn't done some of those things i dreamed of. and maybe my conscience was working. so, all in all, i liked this episode.

and Dr. Tom's rationale kind of explains how violence is so prevalent in some areas. And the people just kind of accept it and move on.

Hi Pattieloo, welcome to the forum! :)

Great show isn't it? I highly suggest watching it from the beginning if you haven't already. I honestly feel it's one of the most underrated shows on TV right now. I think if more people were aware of it, they'd also love it. I think some may be put off by the simple premise, but the show goes far beyond that, and offers depth where many shows don't even go beyond the initial premise.

I've seen up to, and through, the episode where Kai comes back to tell Erica she's "missing" in the future. Good episode.

The more I watch this show the more I fall in love with Erin Karpluk.

Being Erica is indeed a good show and welcome to the forums, pattyloo. You'll find that these days, this place is more of a general science fiction/fantasy forum rather than a strictly focused on "Star Trek".

Don't we all, Trekker, don't we all ;) I've got her as my avatar, afterall.

Oh and, I'm starting to see people slowly discover the show elsewhere. People are getting hooked.

Well, I think I am now considering watching this show when it comes out on DVD.

That decision comes from seeing a commercial on this show's running on Soap Net featuring Whoppi Goldberg talking about how she "leaks" form time to time and needs Poise pads.

Yeah....

That's going to ruin my day and haunt my dreams.

^ Yeah, thankfully the CBC tends to stick to Ford Fiesta ads (shocking) and yogurt. Or at least they do in their online streams of the show, which is where I watch it.

Well, again, we in the US can only catch this show on "Soap Net" and having a show from that network TiFaux'd is already a ding on my manhood, but I assume this isn't a network often watched by men and more often watched by women with.... "such" problems.

:shudder:

Yeah, this show deserves to be seen on a network with wider reach. I'm guessing just being on Soapnet alone turns a lot of people off, but the show has a wider appeal than Soapnet would seem. Have you tried watching on Hulu, Trekker? I see the episodes are up there and are being updated as new episodes air.

The season 3 finale just aired in the U.S., so I can finally post in this thread without being spoiled on future episodes.

I thought it was a good season. Though, I agree that the group therapy premise was not utilized well, and I'm not convinced Erica is quite ready to be a therapist.

The most memorable episode for me was the one in which Adam explored his relationship with his mom/father (particularly his mom). This is the first time in fiction that I've seen that particular parental dynamic, and I'm glad to have seen it represented on tv (as I have a friend who has gone through a family situation like that one).

I'm very happy that the show got picked up for a fourth season. I hope CNBC finds a good network to air season four in the U.S (now that Soapnet is going the way of the dodo).

Yeah, don't see why they couldn't air it on NBC itself as some sort of promo to their own version.

They really couldn't expect to get decent enough ratings for a non-first-run show, and I think the ratings would hurt their roll-out of the U.S. version.

Not necessarily considering a lot of people simply don't know it exists and would treat it more like a first-run show. Besides, we, at least here in Canada, get different international versions of shows, like Law & Order UK.

Well, you would have two options:

1) air only the fourth season (confusing viewers)

or

2) show all four seasons (taking a very long time--with ratings being harmed by the ability of viewers to find the episodes online and/or via DVD)

I just don't see it being worth the trouble.

Edit: Keep in mind that Being Erica is (at the moment) probably tied as my favorite show with Babylon 5.
