Being Erica - Season 3

Wow, I am surprised that so many people like Jenny From the Block. Like the producers, I thought it was the weakest episode of the season. Guess I just don't like the idea of abandoning friends.

I enjoyed the Christmas episode. It was neat having Erica "leap" into Julianne, and it's been a while since we've seen Erica jump into herself as a younger girl (ie not played by Erica herself). It was nice they carried over her joy at seeing her brother in the past.

Somewhat off-topic, but I decided to start re-watching nuBSG today, starting with the miniseries, and in the scene where the group of people converge on Boomer & Helo's raptor, I was surprised to see Erin Karpluk in the crowd as "Woman #1". :D

The past dude.

Once upon a time I had a brief argument with a friend who was usually quite intelligent about whether Star Wars was in the past or the Future. Perhaps the fasted and easiest argument I have ever won.

Season 3 starts today in the U.S.

What channel?

EDIT:

Nevermind, I thought Soap Net (sigh) had gone bye-bye. TiFaux's got me covered.

This is the last year of SOAPnet. If the show has a fourth season it will need a new U.S. home.

Likely the American version will start airing before the 4th season starts in the U.S, but what I'd do is run the original series on NBC or whatever major network is remaking it, to get people familiar with it.

But anyway, I'd be interested in hearing what Americans think of the 3rd season as they watch.

I noticed Entertainment Weekly highlighted the premiere in their TV section. :bolian:

I'm still not sure why they need to make an American version. It's not like our version has unintelligible accents they want to weed out. :D

And it's not like we have any actresses that can live up to the impossible cuteness and love-ability as Erin Kerplunk. Or the "awesome" that Dr. Tom embodies.

Yeah, me neither. My best guess would be so that they can have full rights to do what they want with it without paying licensing fees, and the fact that they can set it in an American city instead of Toronto. The problem for the most part is that the U.S likes to focus on the superficial, so they'd likely cast someone not so much on their acting ability but on how hot they look. That's what I fear will happen on the American version. Erin Karpluk is a nice package, but I fear the American media will be shallow and find her not skinny enough. Though I do think it's starting to change a bit. We need good role models in the world.

God!!! I had forgotten how beautiful and perfectly shaped Erin Karpluk was. :adore:

Just watched the S3 premiere and, meh. I don't think I'm going to like the "Group Therapy" idea. The guy she got saddled with is a huge doucheweed (a douchebag and a dickweed mixed into one) and dammit if they play a romance angle off these two I'm gonna.... :shakes fist: Becoming "Dr. Erica" I knew was coming for some time now, back when Dr. Fred and Dr. Tom talked about if Erica knew "what comes next." But this Group Therapy thing I'm not liking off the bat as I think it "cheats" the premise of the show. (Erica going back to fix a past regret and in the process helping her with a current crisis.)

But, we'll see. Honestly, I can just watch this show for Erin and Dr. Tom and probably be happy for the various qualities they bring. (One being incredible cute and hotness the other for a good screen presence.)

Yeah, don't think many of us liked the group therapy, but without spoiling things, the concept never really gets off the ground before the end of the season. And yeah, Adam will get far worse before he gets better.

And you're right. Dr Tom has incredible screen presence. He's quite a remarkable actor with good gravitas.

Right. I didn't like group therapy or Adam being Erica's new guy and neither did a lot of people. Other than those two things, the show's quality remains consistent and we get some interesting developments. If we get a fourth season, and I hope we do, I expect it to be the best one yet.

The show has an arc where each season roughly corresponds a stage in Erica's growth as a person. Season 1 started things off mainly with Erica's teenage troubles. As the show moved into season 2, the show has focused on more mature topics but is still firmly rooted on Erica's history.

So I thought it was natural that season 3 focused on "The Now", who Erica is and what she is doing with her life. As a result, there is indeed less time travel to Erica's past in season 3. Instead, we see some of the other group's past.

Assuming this trend continues, season 4 will be about Erica's future. I am pretty sure we will see even less of Erica's past in season 4 since the answers do not lie in the past.

I'm pretty sure the second episode of this season was a thinly veiled commercial for the Ford Fiesta.
