Before posting pics-links - READ ME!!!!

I have seen things on youtube. Incredible things. 's'all I'm sayin'...

What part of "shut up about it" are you failing to comprehend?

I will warn people. And if I warn for this, the warning will stay.

Sorry. I was going for "glib/tounge-in-cheek," but you're right, I was dancing on the edge of the line. I apologize.

Too late. The execution is at dawn.

I don’t get it. How can TrekBBS get in “trouble” when links to the trailer can be readily found on the message forums at StarTrek.com (the official Paramount site)?

Just asking...

^Just because Paramount's minions haven't gone after that site yet doesn't mean they won't... if I remember previous issues with that place correctly, aren't they lacking a moderating staff to take that sort of stuff down quickly?

One of the reasons this board is well-respected is the use of preventive rather than reactive moderating. This is also known as "easier to prevent a problem than have to deal with it after the fact."

Just hang in there. Monday when it's officially released online, we can all have fun with avs, screencaps, etc.

StarTrek.com's forum is a free for all anymore. No moderation really. It doesn't mean so much that it's being "allowed" as that no one is doing their job over there.

(the official Paramount site)?
The official Paramount site would be statrekmovie.com, in which they ARE taking any links down and warning people.

As it has just turned mid night here thus Monday 16th November 2008 what would happen if I changed my avatar to an image from the movie trailer?

You would be asked to change it. It doesn't get released online until 10AM Pacific time (US). That's 6PM your time.

Probably wouldn't be kosher until 1pm Eastern time tomorrow when the trailer gets released online.

ETA: What Juan said.

All that was said has been MONDAY, it's now Monday and I am fully aware what Western Standard time is, but I prefer to run my clock by GMT :rommie:

^If you check the official Trek movie site, they have a countdown for when they release the trailer. Until then, any images are still considered bootleg, and could still get the site in trouble.

Finally something important tied to PST! I work in public radio and am always having to recalculate times because the NPR network communicates in EST and the BBC in GMT.

Yeah ... but there has to be a point of diminishing returns. Where it's just not worth the mods' time to do anything about it. So when might that be? Ten minutes before official launch? An hour? Four hours?

We've got to be able to get away with something here!
