BCS question

No, the final BCS standing determine who will play in the BCS games. The last BCS standings came out in early December.

Bummer. So Utah, being #6 and beating #4 Alabama and thereby going undeafeated 13-0... means nothing.

In terms of the BCS standings it wouldn't matter anyway. OU, UF, and UT are far enough ahead in the computer polls that it wouldn't matter anyway.

They do, however have a shot at winning the AP poll. This could happen if OU wins a close one against UF, and split votes with UT for the national title.

yeah, but unfortunately, no matter who #1 is at the end, we still need a playoff.
I am no Utah Ute fan, but they deserve a shot, especially after tonight..

It doesn't mean anything for the BCS, but the USA Today and AP polls will come out again, and after Florida puts away Oklahoma I think Utah will be #2.

A playoff doesn't solve any of these problems, it simply compounds them and adds about 20 teams to the complaint department.

Many playoff scenarios would not have included Utah...btw.

well, actually some scenarios might have since they were the MWC champ.

Well there will always be complainers, but somehow imagining that there are only two worthy teams for the title as the BCS does is horrible.

The only shot any team other than Oklahoma or Floria has for a national championship is the AP poll. Utah and USC made their case, and Texas gets their turn (and being ranked 3rd they have the best shot). But it's an extreme long shot at best since Oklahoma and Florida are the 2 top ranked teams in the AP poll.

Yep.

USC has no chance. Only Utah, because they're undefeated, might inspire a mass defection of writers from the top two teams if they play a crappy game.

Like Cyrus says, though ... ain't gonna happen.

Now my poll is another story. There the Utes will be given the consideration they actually deserve.
