BBC & Big Finish team-up for 'Time Lord Victorious' project

Anyone bought the figures on Eaglemoss? They’re supposed to come with stories in the mag.

I've thought about it, but 1) they're pricey, and 2) I have no space for them. I'm really hoping there will be some sort of collection later with the Dalek stories and odds and ends like "Dawn of the Kotturah" and "Canaries."

I’ve ordered the first two sets of figures, in one order to get free shipping, so I assume I won’t be getting them until the second set releases next month. Nervous that this will make collecting figures a thing for me— a lot of the existing ones look pretty cool.

It strikes me as weird that six of the eight TLV figures are Dalek variants— why not a Kotturuh or a Great Vampire or Ninth or Tenth Doctor variants?— but apparently these Daleks feature heavily in the animated series and have very distinct personalities, so I suppose that’s part of the reason.

I'm disappointed with the prototype image of the Dalek Strategist (which is in Set 3, with the Dalek Executioner), as his casing isn't broken open and there's no mutant eyeball peering out. It's just a regular Dalek casing, but splotchy.

I listened to 'He kills me, he kills me not'. This is my first Timelord Victorious story but so far there's not much to it yet, I think I will need to listen to the future audio releases to understand what's going on. I won't be reading the comics or novels related to this.

Just finished the second Big Finish audio story. This one is way better. Not only is it a Dalek story but it connects better to the Victorious story than the previous one. Looking forward to the final part.

Is the final part echoes of extinction? I read that the vinyl and digital release of it is delayed until February 2021 because of a certain virus not allowing people to buy non essential goods.

Yeah. I heard that as well which I don’t get since the non essential goods thing only applies to Wales and I doubt they even have a asda there. :)
Scotland is also not on lockdown

The final part of the Eighth Doctor audio strand is Mutually Assured Destruction rather than Echoes of Extinction, which is the one-off featuring both the Eighth and Tenth Doctors. The release date for Mutually Assured Destruction hasn’t changed; it’s still due on December 9th.

I suspect the issue is less that the non-essential goods thing requires them not to release the vinyl, and more that releasing it in the middle of lockdown would slow the rate at which it sold through.

The vinyl version that was exclusively coming to ASDA stores has been delayed

Just watched the first episode of the Daleks up on youtube now. I don't care about the quality, some people said it looks bad but considering the time it was made in I think it's fine. It was a fun watch and I loved the music. Looking forward to where it goes next.

The vinyl of Echoes of Extinction has been delayed, yes, as has the download version of it. But Echoes of Extinction is not the final part of the story that began in He Kills Me, He Kills Me Not and continued in The Enemy of My Enemy. That story ends in Mutually Assured Destruction, which hasn’t been delayed.

"The Archive of Islos," the first episode of the animated Daleks! series, debuted on YouTube earlier today.

A Dalek battle fleet arrives at the Archives of Islos, a planet-sized archive, and the Dalek Emperor demands of the Archivans, the robotic archivists who manage the archive, that they hand over the archive. There's bombardment from orbit, there's flying Daleks blasting a city from close-up, there's a battle with an orbiting platform. The Dalek Exterminator wants to blow shit up. The Dalek Strategist wants to take a slower approach; something about this situation doesn't seem right to him. And the Dalek Emperor wants to be obeyed.

It's not bad. The story is clearly in the vein of the 1960s TV21 comics -- it's a bit space opera-y, and the Daleks are operating as you know they probably do but Doctor Who never has the budget to show them operating in that way. The animation reminds me of in-game PlayStation 2 graphics (the fire effects, especially). There's an interesting dynamic to the Dalek characters -- the Exterminator is impulsive, the Strategist is a bit like Spock, the Emperor knows what he wants but he's a little slow on the uptake. Nick Briggs voices all of them, and he gives each a different voice.

The Strategic here is not cracked open like he is in the Titan Comics story.

It ends with a cliffhanger, so I imagine this will have an old-school serial feel to it.

That timeline is rather interesting, and it explains something that was strange to me about the first episode of Daleks! -- why was the Dalek Strategist's casing intact when it's ripped open in "Defender of the Daleks"? Answer, Daleks! takes place before the comic.

Seeing where the eighth Doctor stories go relative the rest, particularly All Flesh Is Grass, has me curious.

BTW, completely off topic but I don't want to start a thread on it.
Paul Mcgann turned 61 a few days ago. Just one year younger than Peter Capaldi. What is Mcgann's secret?!
