Battlefield 1943 out!

I just had two seriously wicked games (in Air Superiority of course). :D In one I got 538 points and 13 kills and in the other I got 620+ points and 18 kills. :D

You're making me feel bad. I had a miserable night last night. I couldn't do anything right and it seemed like I couldn't stay alive for more than about 30 seconds. It was awful.

BF BC is easier because you have more opportunity to score points... but really, easiest way to score points is to either rush flags and cap them or alternatively, hold back and try to kill enemies from within range of a flag - which nets you +3 for each kill.

Also note that the heavy machine gun has as much range as a sniper. It's not accurate, but you can rack up a lot of kills if guys just keep walking into your line of fire.

You also get minor score bonuses for helping your squad in terms of the assist, revenge and saviour bonuses.

I have nowhere near your skills, but I seem to be doing a lot better with flying. I'm getting 7-10 kills per match instead of just commiting suicide now. :P For some games I don't care for the feel of the PS3 thumbsticks, but they're perfect for flying in this game. They have so much play in them. I need to play with the sensitivity on the 360 controller.

I haven't done many matches on the PS3 yet, but there doesn't seem to be anywhere near as many douchebags in the air superiority games I've done so far. In the 360 version, I end up spending half the time looking for enemy snipers on our side's carriers. They also like to man the AA guns and shoot folks down as they're taking off.

Hah, yeah, I've noticed people doing the thing where they try to land on carriers and take people out as they're flying. But that only works once before they're taken out though.

There's no friendly fire as far as I know though? I think even splash damage doesn't affect friendlies...

Use tanks whenever possible. Make sure to always use both tank weapons when trying to kill enemy soldiers. The main gun takes a while to load, so use the secondary weapon while the main gun is loading.

The one thing I've noticed about tanks is if you shoot the main gun against infantry, even at close range, they remain totally unscathed. Guys bouncing around and running out of the smoke that should have turned them into a fine pink mist. I've had to use the MG every time I had to wipe out a guy trying to AT me. Seems pretty buggy to me in that regard. Aside from that one complaint, it's a pretty decent game.

You obviously haven't played against me. :(

I think the tank doesn't have any splash damage like the grenades do. Which doesn't make any sense but lets hope it's tweaked in a patch.

^^^ Agreed. Another thing they need to add that I discovered last night on the Wake Island map, if you miss a landing craft and accidentally fall off the aircraft carrier, there doesn't seem to be a ladder to get back up as with BF1942 and BF2. I spent 5 minutes swimming to the island and was righteously pissed about it. Is there some secret method of getting back on the ship that I'm not aware of? I swam around the entire boat and no ladder. :(

Well you always open up the menu and use "Suicide". I just do that when something similar happens.

Yeah. Suicide seems to be the only option. I figure they did it to stop people from going to the carriers to steal other people's planes... although, I guess you can do that in... Guadalcanal.

So has anybody been having any lag issues of late? I've been noticing it a bit more in the last few games I've played. I'm seeing things like a tank suddenly disappearing and then reappearing about 10 ft behind where it just was, and then it repeating the process like it was stuck in a loop.

Last night I had one of my teammates coming to pick me up in a jeep and the jeep was doing the exact same thing. I saw soliders appearing and reappearing and walking over the same spot over and over.

Seems like it's gotten worse all of a sudden. I haven't noticed any other connection issue with my ISP so I was wondering if this was something other people were experiencing or not.

^ I noticed it once while playing Air Superiority. A single plane appeared and disappeared a couple of times. That was it, otherwise everything has been OK.

Well it could be my connection, but I haven't really noticed any issues anywhere else except with this game. Thought maybe their servers were overloaded. It makes it kind of hard to kill someone when they disappearing and reappearing over and over.

It's probably lag. I've had it happen to me a few times... but it mostly clears up for me.

There's also a weird lag bug where if you get off a mounted machine gun, suddenly everything takes a second to respond to any of your commands... yet after you die, the lag is gone.

I spent a half-hour or so on the trial version last night and was surprised at how ugly the game is compared to the equivalent map on BF2 which was released some four years back.
