Battlefield 1943 out!

Well i coughed up £9.99 last night seeing as Bomberman ultra has still not come to the EU /UK PSN(god damn you SCEE, release it already),and bought 1943 on the PSN, what alot of fun, really enjoying it, and i can actually hit other people.

Amazing.

^ I don't know, I just really feel the SMG is underpowered. Based on same of the stuff I've read on internet forums, quite a few people agree with me. But hey, if it works for you, good for you.

And yeah, I quite like the sniper class. Dynamite is great, but I'm not really a fan of the pistol.
I agree, it's a bit too hard to kill people with it. Especially considering the Garand/whatever the Japanese have as Rifleman are damn near "one shot, one kill" weapons.

Well I just totally kicked ass the air superiority. I was the best in the game (believe or not, lol) with 11 kills and 440 points. :D Man this is entertaining.

Yeah I'm trying all I can to improve my flying skills and it's a whole lot easier in air superiority when you have a lot more targets then usual.

Flying was never the problem for me. It was hitting targets on the ground with bombs. Which is why I stopped using planes with playing on the regular maps.

Is it me or is there no server browser?

Even BF:BC let you try to find a server with a map you want to play...

Yeah, it's unfortunate... I was just in a mood to grind achievements, so I needed Wake Island maps.

At the moment it's each map twice... but I kind of wish that they'd set up 24/7 maps for people who just want to play one map. I suppose it's not a big deal since there are only three maps and they're pretty similar anyway.

Anyway, a couple of pieces of advice:
- Use the rifleman class. Infantry's SMG is totally useless. OTOH the rifleman rifle is pretty sweet.

I took your advice and maybe have gotten a little better, but I still seem to have aiming issues which is kind of frustrating. Some of it's lag though because I can see the visual evidence of that (for example a tank that suddenly appeared about 10 yards back from where I last saw it).

But I played a lot last night and even though I struggled I still enjoyed it. Had one game with about 285 points but that was primarily because I spammed the hell out of one of the anti-aircraft guns and the enemy just kept flying at me.

For those of you thinking about buying this, It's a good game, well worth $15. And that comes from someone who dies a lot and is not very good at it but still finds it to be fun.

^ Have you started using the tanks?

Anyway, I am now consistently getting 400+ points and 10+ kills in Air Superiority. I had my best game ever yesterday with 13 kills and 538 points. Man I love Air Superiority. :D Since Coral Sea was released I haven't played a single game on any of the regular maps.

^ Have you started using the tanks?

Not really, I've jumped on as the gunner and have gotten a few kills that way but generally that doesn't end well.

It seems like the only unoccupied tanks I've come across have already been severely damaged and won't move.

The best two maps for tanks are definitely Guadalcanal and Wake Island. There are more of them on Guadalcanal, but I think they're most useful on Wake Island.

When playing Guadalcanal I suggest you always spawn at your home base and then grab a tank. There's usually at least one available. Besides, you can check on the map before spawning.

One of the things I miss about the rifle class (as opposed to the SMG) is the bazooka.

And speaking of spawning, that's been driving me crazy trying to figure out how to spawn where I want. Everytime I think I've figured it out, it seems like it changes on me. Last night on one of the games it kept spawning me back in the same place only to be killed instantly. I REALLY hate that. :klingon:

^ Ok, by default the game itself selects the spawn point, so you're only selecting the soldier class. If you wanna select the spawn point yourself, press triangle so it's set to manual select, then use the right stick to select the desired spawn point. You can only spawn at your home base and at all the flags that are currently captured by your team.

So that would be the flag spawn then? I kind of thought that's how it worked but it didn't seem to want to change when I moved it with the right stick. I must have not done something right.

^ Like I said, you first need to set it to manual select using the triangle. Otherwise the right stick won't change the spawn point. The system could be better, but it's fine once you figure it out.

I just need to experiment with it some more. Like I said, I thought I understood it and it seemed fine and then it didn't seem like it was working right. I must have accidentally set it to autospawn and didn't realize it.

Yeah, as wimpy as the SMG is, I always find myself wishing I had the bazooka as soon as I change back to the rifle class. Though, I seem to be getting more tank kills with their grenades than I do with the bazooka now, anyway.

The spawn camping in the game drives me nuts. Mostly because people don't seem to realize they should pick another place to spawn. Instead, our reinforcements vanish because everyone is spawning right in front of the other side's tanks.

I'm not normally one to be into multiplayer games, but I'm having a blast with this game. My aim is pretty crappy, as is my vehicle handling, but I still seem to come out in the top half most games because I'm actually working towards the map objectives. I need to learn how to get more control of the plane so I can do better. At least I'm not flipping upside down and crashing 20 seconds later anymore.

There's three different spawn types. One is automatic, one is spawn on squad - which is more fine grain because you can choose which member to spawn on, and the other is spawn on flag.

Yes, there are. Unfortunately, it seems like most people do the auto-spawn instead of picking where they're going to spawn. I've been in a number of matches now where the other side 4 caps, and then parks their tanks around the last flag just far enough out of reach so the they don't cap it. Then they just rack up the kills as people pop in.
