Batman with Ben Affleck-- Rumors, pic, etc;

Now they're making a nightwing movie too. Considering all the Affleck rumours and how this wasn't part of the DCEU announcements it kinda seems like this might be the studios way to replace Affleck once his contract is up with out recasting.

Welcome news. I wonder what the cause of the talks breaking down earlier this week were about? I imagine one of the parties was playing hardball.

The rumor was that Reeves was trying to negotiate his salary through the press.

There's also the potential that it was all made up by one site to get more clicks and everyone else jumped on it to get their own clicks.

I heard WB has an accelerated schedule planned for The Batman. Reeves is finishing up post on War for the Planet of the Apes and there would be some overlap. In return, Reeves wanted an increased salary. WB was playing hardball, but it looked like they finally relented.

I am glad they did. Reeves is a superb choice for this project. The fact that he's a producer as well means he'll have some clout, which may also have been part of the negotiation. He probably saw what happened with Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad and didn't want this movie taken away from him. It's a valid concern, if true.

What's just as exciting? The fact that oft-collaborator Michael Giacchino will probably be doing the score. They've worked on every movie together that Reeves has done, so Giacchino scoring The Batman seems inevitable now.

This puts recent events into a new perspective. It seems that Affleck recently went through another stint in rehab for alcohol addiction.

“I have completed treatment for alcohol addiction; something I’ve dealt with in the past and will continue to confront. I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be. I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step. I’m lucky to have the love of my family and friends, including my co-parent, Jen, who has supported me and cared for our kids as I’ve done the work I set out to do. This was the first of many steps being taken towards a positive recovery.”

I can certainly see where taking on a project with as much responsibility and potential risk as a big-budget superhero movie would not have been in the best interests of his health.
