Batman with Ben Affleck-- Rumors, pic, etc;

This is the end of the current arc, but Reeves has talked about doing more movies that continue on from War.

If you guys want me to stop posting this stuff I will. I usually just try to post anything I see on a legitimate site like IGN, CBR, or Io9.
I'm curious if Reeves potentially directing The Batman will have any effect on his plans for future Apes movies.

I don't think anybody wants you (or anybody else) to stop posting news bulletins and articles.

I myself post only those, news, as in there's actually new facts there. Not new rumors, not new opinions, but new facts. And that goes both ways, whether a rumor/opinion says the movie will be good or bad. I might add my own opinion after the link and quote, maybe even some speculation, but it has to be based on actual information.

I'm absolutely thrilled Matt Reeves is directing The Batman.

I was always a bit surprised why everyone thought Ben Affleck was such a good fit for Batman. I think he did a good job from an acting perspective, but nothing from his filmography screamed to me that he would be perfect for Batman as a director. I think fans, such as myself, were excited to see a filmmaker of Affleck's caliber directing Batman. However, I was never sure it was the appropriate marriage of director and material.

I think Reeves is far more suited for the Dark Knight. If you've seen Let Me In, you'll know he can handle psychological darkness, terror and suspense in a very subtle and nuanced package. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was pretty much the perfect blockbuster and I can't wait for War for the Planet of the Apes. Reeves knows spectacle, but he also knows how to ground that spectacle in nuanced, character-driven drama. To me, he was my favorite choice among the litany of rumored candidates for the job.

I just hope WB lets Reeves make his own damn movie, the way they let Christopher Nolan have complete creative autonomy. I'm sure War for the Planet of the Apes is going to be a huge blockbuster like Dawn, so Reeves has proven he has the chops for the gig. My only concern right now would be WB mucking it up. Also, I hope the rumors are true the script is going to be completely overhauled. I want Reeves to have as much creative control and say as he wants. I want to see Matt Reeves' Batman movie, not another DC movie made by committee.

Does Afleck want out?

"Ben Affleck, make no mistake, he does want out," Campea shared on today's episode of Collider Movie Talk. "He doesn't want to be Batman anymore." He added, "I've been told, Ben Affleck is talking with Warner Bros. in an attempt to get out of being Batman. And if they do not let him out of being Batman, the standalone Batman film that ultimately happens will be the last time we see Ben Affleck as Batman."

It's not too horrible, Batman has been recast enough times that people won't blink.

Keeping that feel of continuity going when one of the top stars as THE top character wants out, though, that hurts a bit.

Meanwhile on the other side of the spectrum, Robert Downey Jr. insisted they up his role if the writers wanted to for Civil War...

Yeah but those Schumacher installments weren't exactly quality films.

It'd be nice to have a Batman film or two in the DCEU but if they only want to keep the character as part of an ensemble like they did with the last two movies and the upcoming Justice League, that's fine too. I wonder if Affleck would be happy with that.

I think Affleck is annoyed that everyone keeps asking about his solo Batman film. Post BvS and SS, people asked him about Batman. During interviews for The Accountant and Live By Night (the latter which he starred, wrote and directed), he was asked about Batman. Live By Night flopped, Ben bows out from directing his own Batman film and people are still asking about it. Plus, he's still going through a divorce and custody battle with Jennifer Gardner. I'd imagine he wouldn't want to be of a committal role to a big franchise like the DCEU, with all that's going on in his life. A smaller role would likely be ideal.

Not like we need another Batman film.

AAAAAAAAANNNNNND, the walk back. Or rather, the context that should have prefaced his comments before.

^^
I wonder if the "people" that told him Affleck is leaving also prefaced it with "don't run with this"

Why even post something that he doesn't believe to be true?
Oh, right. He wanted people to run with it but he blames the industry.

There's a real good way to keep people from sharing a story like this, don't tell people about it. Unless he is momumentally stupid, he had to know there was no way he could tell someone about something like this and not have it get out.
If it really is true, which still seems questionable, then it would be a shame to lose the actor who seems to be one of the core cast members of the DCEU.

In this age of the internet, everyone wants to be first and everyone wants to be the center of attention. Starting rumors has a cost though, which Campea is feeling the heat for. Everyone (people in the industry) are running what he said.

That tweet literally doesn't exist.

Edit: And that's also not at all what Twitter looks like on Android.

Facebook posts don't have an @ symbol on them.
You can add them. I've looked for the post on his FB, but it looks like it's been deleted. People in the comments are talking about it on other posts of his and linking to articles parroting what he said, but Campea doesn't seem to be responding to them anymore.

You literally re-posted a Photoshopped Twitter screenshot that's somehow gone viral.
