Bats fires a line and grapples Iron Man's legs. IM activates boot jets and goes to upper atmosphere. Bats loses consciousness from cold and lack of oxygen, freeing IM's legs, and falls. The rushing air wakes up Bats, who then charges up his gloves and makes his cape rigid and glides safely to Earth.

Considering this is Bale's Batman, he's going to lose miserably if the two of them go for the throat. He doesn't have anything that can get through Ironman's defenses, and he has no defenses against Ironman's impressive arsenal (including those "sneak attack auto-hit" shoulder guns).

I really wish we were talking the comic book version here because I would say without reservation that Batman would kick holy fuck out of Iron Man.

BUT since I have to go with the movie versions then it's obvious that in straight up combat Iron Man would kick the snot out of Bale's Batman. Bale's Bats isn't as intelligent as Downey's Stark and Wayne Enterprise's gadgets are just toys next to Stark Industries weapons of mass destruction.

Please note that this is probably the ONLY scenario where I would vote against the Batman and state that he would be another mans bi-otch!

Speaking as someone who, you know, buys comic books, really really not.

Stark is a genius. Okay, he's not quite up there with Reed Richards but only a few people are. He's built huge businesses from the ground up more than once and developed some of the world's most advanced technology.

Oh, and it's Iron Man.

Ya know, I'd LOVE to see a movie with these two together...

The first thing I thought when I saw this thread was that it'd make an awesome team-up. The characters complement each other and would make an interesting match.

As far as the question, I think movie Iron Man wins. In the comics, either could win in a believable way. Batman has defeated more powerful enemies, but of course, Iron Man is more powerful on paper. Stark is one of the MU's most intelligent men, but Wayne is perhaps more clever or devious. It'd be an intriguing story.

Can we have a scenario where Stark builds bat-armor for Bruce (or Bruce reverse-engineers an IM suit for himself)? That would be slick .

I'll say one thing's for sure Batman does get the better writers you'd never see Batman get jobbed the way Iron Man does by the Marvel editorial staff. Like having his helmet get ripped off by Namor, his armor getting torn off like tin foil by Wolverine, or getting trapped in Spider Man's webbing, all while ignoring Iron Man's technical capabilities that prove to the contrary. It's hard comparing intelligence since most of these characters specialize in different fields, so saying that someone is smarter for being able to open portals to other dimensions as opposed to an uncanny knowledge of metallurgy is flawed.
