I like how Dylan said, "I told you not to do that!" when Norman swung at the back of his head with the meat tenderizer. How many times has Norman swung at the back of Dylan's head with a blunt object? :wtf:

Just saw episode two and wasn't disappointed.

Freddie Highmore is freaking channeling Anthony Perkins. Love that the town is just as sick as the Bates, thier gonna fit right in. However, I thought I sensed Norma's confidence cracking a bit at the sight of burning man.

Dylan knew that Norman's father beat Norma, so Norman must have too unless it was much worse before he was too young to remember? But why would she wait so long to kill him if he beatings were consistent?

The father would tie Norma up and take a riding crop to her ass and shoulders.

Norman would secretly watch, and this is the inspiration for his torture porn manga.

But he took the game to far from game and too close to reality when he couldn't stop slapping her because it made his cock feel entirely really strong for once, and she responded to this by methodically arranging his murder a week later.

No, just different interpretation of the wording. "Coming at me" implies face to face with your fists. From what I inferred, anyway, when I watched the first time. Cold cocking someone's skull from behind with a mallet seemed to take it to a new level. Dylan's words didn't match the shock on his face. He looked particularly....surprised. His eyes were so big.

I read somewhere that they added Dylan in part to add a degree of uncertainty to the proceedings. We all know what's ultimately in store for Norman and Norma, but Dylan's fate is still a question mark.

True. Dylan could go good or bad. Obviously he had a lousy upbringing. His dad is out of the picture because Norma married Sam--maybe he didn't give a damn anyway, but---Sam obviously wasn't good to them, at least not to Dylan. Dylan's mother is a smothering incestuously vibed nutcase who may well be capable of cold blooded murder. Dylan knows this. You leave my dad; you probably murdered your second husband for the insurance and you're a little "too close" with my little brother who's more than willing to bash my head in with a meat tenderizer. Dylan hasn't exactly had healthy role models. Under the bravado, you can tell he's hurt that Norma skipped town without a word. He could turn out to be villanous or heroic. If Norma and Norman don't decide that he's a threat to be eliminated.

This is the dark and gritty version of Eerie, Indiana.

I suppose they were aiming at a Twin Peaks vibe, but when the protagonists are basically Bob, that's just not gonna fly I think.

Since it's just ten episodes I may be able to hack it. But after seeing the second episode tonight that I missed last week, I was too tired of the "fun" to watch the new episode. It already seems like the storyline is going to be patterned on the Gordian knot. There is an inevitable temptation to just cut it. The thing is, is it really entertainment to see a burning body hanging upside down from a ship's mast decorating a park?

Huh. Well isn't that a kick in the head? Dreamboat deputy Shelby ain't so nice after all, is he? If Norman hasn't imagined the Chinese girl in his basement. I suspect this visual was real.

Highmore was channeling the nervous, skittish about to lose it Norman Bates of Anthony Perkins when he was yelling at Emma in the school hallway to leave it alone. That kid is scary....and he doesn't remember trying to pop Dylan in the skull. That's disquieting. Norman is full on cuckoo for cocoa puffs.

Dylan seems to have a heart hidden in there somewhere. At least where his brother is concerned. Good morning, Mr. and Mrs. Bates. :guffaw:

So, Norman is talking to a Head Angel who is pushing him into doing very bad things?

Is Norma even alive?

Is his brother just the other half of his personality?

If Norma's dead, that means that Norman had sex with the cop and he just disassociated, pretending that he was his mother to get through all the gay sex.

Is Norman the only living non imaginary person in that ghost-town?

I suspect Norma is alive since we see her out and about in town. ;) She won't stay that way, but for now she's corporeal.

I don't know, the way the deputy was perfectly fine with the town's screwed up sense of "justice" clued me in that he was not a good guy. I was expecting something bad to be going on with him, though not necessarily that.

This is already one seriously f'd up town, and we've barely scratched the surface.

After having his conversation with "Mother" that resulted in Norman going to the Deputy's house to get the belt back, I'm starting to think that maybe Norma didn't kill her husband, but that "Mother" did. I'm starting to suspect that's why Norma's been coddling him so bad and not wanting him to be on his own (so he can't off anybody else). Next week's promo shows that Norma is fully aware that Norman is talking to imaginary people.
