I think RTD said in an interview that no matter what series order they get he will be sticking to telling stories in this way.Every time they have tried a full series it has been 50% shit. They should do another one story mini.
Shooting dates and stuff still to be worked out but he was pretty unequivocal in his statement that it's coming back for a full 13 episodes.

Not really. Remember it's the US that demands its shows run year after year consecutively. In the UK it's quite normal for a year or more to pass between seasons. We're seeing it now with Doctor Who (specials notwithstanding) and Red Dwarf took it to extremes, with something like 4 years passing between seasons at one point (which IIRC was enough time for one of its stars to go off and do his own series).
yes it would be tricky for two different exec producers to use the same character, and keep the character time line straight.
