Well im German and i have to say that i hope after several houndread years and a war that almost killed the Mankind on earth they stop thinking about Nazi stuff, or Americans who anslaved African People, killed Native Americans, Englands war against China to sell Opium... and all that. Of course they should not forget History of Crimes and learn from those things. But they also should not be mentally stuck in the past.So we all know a lot of ships in Trek are named after historic figures both in real life and in universe, but what sort of prominent figures would you think wouldn't get that honour (of course it goes without saying that the likes of Hitler and other Nazis would never be considered), or what sort of tragic figures, ships, or events might get a starship named after them despite the history associated with the name.
The question popped into my head after watching a couple of YouTube vids on the Donner Party and I got to wondering if Starfleet would ever commission the likes of a California-Class ship called the Donner Lake.
