Bad Starship Names

Most, yes, but not each and every one. Brunt, for example, seemed a relatively decent guy in the Mirror universe. I thought he seemed nicer than prime Brunt, even though he was a mercenary. Smiley or Jennifer Sisko didn't seem too bad either once you got to know them, their life just was a lot rougher to make them turn out the way they did.

Also, if it were true, what would Mirror Hitler and Mirror Stalin have been like? Come to think of it, we never saw Mirror Dukat either, did we?

I think at least the (weird) idea is that somehow at heart they are exactly the same people, bent by different circumstances. In Mirror Mirror we see that Mirror Spock is not so different to Prime Spock.

Like, being from the MU doesn’t inherently make you a bad guy. You could even be a good guy in both.

I suppose in many ways every subsequent writer has been getting it wrong in terms of what Mirror Mirror portrayed originally.

I don’t know exactly though.

Controversial Opinion 1:

Star Trek should never go to the MU again.

Controversial Opinion 2:

Unless it’s for Kelvin 4.

Agreed. It was a unique, tension-filled trip when introduced. After that, its "well, its supposed to be dystopian, evil society, so let's turn that up to cartoonish degrees!" The biggest selling point / saving grace of ENT's TOS 2-parter was that it was set in TOS era.

Not necessarily bad Starship name choices, but potentially controversial.

^uss putin is named for a murdered politruk on a sovjet submarine, right?

who is mr or mrs boris?

Oh, I'd say the Putin and Stalin are indisputably bad names for any ship. Maybe the first name can be salvaged over the generations but Stalin...yeah, that one's ruined for time and eternity.

at least four of those are not significant enough and the others are not really controversial - a controversial one would be uss reagen

That might be true. I also even could buy mirror Kirk still essentially being the same person potentially, just having grown in a very different direction under the kill or be killed mentality of the Terran Empire.

On the other hand, I had a bit of trouble believing Kira and Mirror Kira were essentially the same person.

But didn't Discovery throw all that out the window and say there was a genetic part of people in the MU that made them that way?
