Well bugger me sideways, I did not expect that!
I mean Fennic, Cad Bane, Wolfe, Rex, that unreasonably handsome clone? Sure! All within the bounds of expectations . . . but a very much NOT dead Ventress? Hell no!
How is that even feasible though? How could a dead witch from a coven notorious for their proficiency with necromancy, who was buried in the living swamp waters of her ancestral home saturated with powerful magiks, and one of the most force strong planets in the galaxy, possibly come back from the dead? Well I don't know about anyone else but I'm stumped!
Let the fan theory youtube blitz begin! Who wants to take bets on her really being a half-android/half-clone of Abeloth that will eventually mutated into Snoke? Seems like the only reasonable explanation to me.
Seriously though; I'm glad the lead in on the new season is so short, since the clickbait is going to be all over the place.
Oh right, there was a whole trailer before that, wasn't there? Random thoughts in vague order: -
- Always nice to see an Juggernaught/Turbo Tank. Pretty sure that's an A9 not a A6, given the smaller size and that I'm pretty sure the asset has been in the show already.
- New ship design? Seems like a cross between a CR-20, a Sentinel lander, and a Nu class, though it feels like it's meant to be an older design of a similar lineage? Either way, it be very chonk for a shuttle!
- So one of the ships from Wayland passing what looks like something very similar in design to the Imperial occupation dome on Lothal, and Coruscant. No comment, but it's neat to see another on of those dome ships/stations.
- We're going back to Teth? Makes you feel a little sorry for those B'omarr Monks. Can't go more than a few years without clones, droids and/or Stormtroopers blowing up the joint.
- Don't recognise this planet. For a split second I thought it could be Lothal because: grass, but the rock formations are all wrong. Could be Dantoonie I guess, byre more likely somewhere new. Seem modelled somewhat after New Zealand maybe?
- Am I crazy, or does Omega's hair change style between those two shots? Are we going to get an on screen progression of time instead of a between season skip? They almost never do that! I mean if she's been waiting "a long time", how long? 3 months? 6? A year? I kinda want it to be a whole year.
- Gee, I wonder why Palps is so eager to dedicate so many resources to a facility trying to recreate and push Kaminoan cloning tech? Snoke who? Exogolwhatnow? What a mystery this is!
- OK, so I really need them to show the rest of Delta Squad. They keep teasing Scorch, but where's the Boss? I want a Temura voice cameo damnit!

- Looks like the same pointy rock grass planet from before.
- Welp, so much for that paradise retreat. Also; what is the deal with these fanatic clones? The early stages of the Death Trooper program?
- Noticing the Batch's armour seem way grungier and beat up this time. An indication they've been in the thick of it with Rex's outfit for a while now?
- Hey Fennic. Hey Cad. Hey Nala Se. hey nutcase clone. Hey Wolfe. Hey Hunter and Rex looking all grim and stoic. Also Echo, Hot Clone (get it?), a definitely older and now more Boba looking than ever Omega.
- Wrecker as space Crocodile Dundee? Well he does have the knife for it (and probably the spoon too.)
- That's an interesting design. Kinda reminds me of the original "Star Destroyers" from the early ANH drafts when they were small triangular fighters. I'm guessing a bounty hunter or syndicate ship fo some kind?
- Looks like a direct assault on Tantiss. I'm sure that'll go off without a hitch (a fiver says they release the Zillo Beast and the rest of the menagerie as a distraction.)
- OK, it took a few seconds for my brain to fully process this. I recognised the voice but just thought: oh neat, they brought back Nika Futterman for a new role! Oh wait. What? No! They didn't?! They did! Seriously though this feels like the realisation of something they'd planned to do for Resistance, but backed off on. I approve and now insist she show up in the Mandoverse and/or the Rey movie!
- At first I just thought that was exactly the Dark Disciple outfit designed for TCW season 6*, but on closer inspection; her hair is shorter, shaped and parted differently, the outfit itself is missing the tabard, has different boots, and is overall more utilitarian looking. Almost like she's living a more survival oriented, semi-nomadic existence, perhaps to avoid certain inquisitive visitors that won't take a hint she's not interesting an anything that spins like a helicopter toy.
- The only parts of that costume that seems to remain is the pauldron and the under-layer, with a different tunic, but overall similar pallet.
- Oh and that's a very different lightsaber hilt from the one they used for the book cover (probably because they gave it to Maul instead.) This one is curved, but it's not one of her old ones; it almost looks like Dooku's design. Blade is yellow golden though.
- I smell editing trickery here! The location where Ventress is is clearly not the same as the shot of Wrecker & Hunter. Different scenes. Possibly different episodes. Still the blaster bolts are blue. I forget if the Empire already switched to red or not? If not then possibly clones, or indeed, The Batch?
* Production season 6 of course. It would have likely been broadcast in season 7 if not for the cancellation. The first 5 seasons were all 26 episode orders but they only aired 22 per season, so there was an increased amount of overspill over the years. IIRC 6 & the (presumed final) season 7 were just 24 episode orders, meaning the show could have run for 8 whole 22 episode seasons!
