Babylon 5

That was a great write up by JMS. Thanks @The Nightmare Doctor

Koeing was likeable enough as Chekov and did what he could within a limited, one-dimensional role. But man, he was a revelation as Bester. Absolute knockout performance.

He seemed a very thoughtful and intelligent man from what I saw of him in interviews over the years.

RIP.

He also posted it on Facebook. It was a nice post. I was surprised Koenig only appeared in 12 episodes. It felt like a lot more than that, but he made a lasting (And great) impression. Bester really is one of my favorite characters in the Sci Fi TV genre.

It does seem like more. He'd only done 4 episodes by the end of season 3. Most of those 12 appearances were in season 4 / 5.

I don't think I was on the internet in 1993, or 1994. I thought that came much later, like 1997. Still, don't people still quote the Nuclear Wessels all the time? I liked him more in the movies than the show because he was allowed to open up more. Bester just solidified that opinion.

I've never had the pleasure, but my friend Frank was a regular con-goer in his youth. He posted this on FB:
"Walter Koenig passed away last night. Always ready to talk to fans. Super nice guy. God I’m gonna miss this guy. Back in the 70’s we were at a convention in NYC. Walter and a bunch of us hit Penn Station at 3am looking for bagels!!! This is sad."
