As for Early Voyages #1, I love how absolutely mid-90s Marvel that cover is. That's not a criticism; I loved the series, I loved Zircher's art, I thought the storytelling was solid. I'm just noting that that era of Marvel's Star Trek comics could be... very Marvel.

Starfleet Academy makes sense when you look at it in terms of a mid-90s, post-Claremont X-Men comic, for example.

I hadn't thought about it from this angle, but yeah, now that you mention it. That does make sense.
