Babylon 5

I heard before that original Kosh was originally planned to do the things that Evil Kosh did.

I wonder, had they gone down that path, how they would have gotten rid of him.

Er...what evil things are we referring to here? I know Ulkesh was a bit rough with Lyta and refused to aid Delenn and the others, but otherwise I don't recall him doing much directly.

In any case, I love how "Interludes and Examinations" plays out, so keeping Kosh around after that would have been unfortunate.

It's implied he was coordinating the plans for using the Vorlon planet-killers to wipe out worlds touched by the Shadows, using his position on B5 (as the war hub) to get intel and keep the younger races from learning of the plan until it was too late.

Granted he withheld his knowledge of what the Vorlons were up to, and probably did listen to everyone and report back, but I'm not sure that counts as "evil", at least directly... I mean, don't all the ambassadors do that?

We're all ants to the Vorlons and Shadows. Don't get hung up on the good/evil thing with them. Sometimes they feed the colony, sometimes they overturn it or just kill it when it gets out of hand.

We're ants to the First Ones. The Vorlons and Shadows came along a bit later so perhaps we seem more like pet guinea pigs to them. We're short lived, it's amusing to keep us in cages and watch us scuttling around in our wheels but we're not advanced enough to care much about our fate. We're also edible.

Maybe 'evil' is too strong a term, season 4 is pretty explicit about it being more a Lawful Neutral vs Chaotic Neutral kind of fight. But 'Our Kosh' had real empathy for the younger races and 'Kosh 2' didn't have the slightest bit, and was content just winning the war no matter how many people were killed.

I can agree with that, though I think it may be that Kosh became more sympathetic to the younger races' plight over time, while Ulkesh remained unyielding...or just didn't have the time to get to know us. :)

Just watch the show on a 13 inch screen and the CGI looks fine people. :)
If your watching it on anything smaller than19 inches it’ll look fine as there is less screen to fill (this is why 480p is classified as High-Definition on small screens, but only Enhanced-Definition on screens larger than 19-inches), although the CGI probably looks it’s best on a iPhone or other cell phone screen, as you are talking of 7-inch or less screens.

^^ Oh, it's amazing how predictive B5 was. A civil war caused by a treasonous president. Civilization caught between two extremist ideologies. Byron the proto-Millennial. Hopefully they're wrong about the Great Burn....

Morden could also be considered the one who is already dead, as he was legally dead throughout the series, and he was working for the Shadows.

Morden is one who was already dead, but it's hard to see how killing him was bad for Centauri.

While Londo's involvement with the Shadows singled out Centauri Prime, the Drahk wanted revenge against the race that betrayed their masters, that's why Centauri Prime is in such a poor condition in the future. Killing Morden was part of that. But like any future prophecy, it's easier to determine the meaning after the events have occurred.

I think that JMS is a very good student of history and history repeats itself. What seem like predictions are only a good representation of realistic events within the futuristic setting. Unless you're referring to Zima making a come back.

Well, it did on Agents of SHIELD.

It certainly looked better on my Galaxy S9 than my 27 inch monitor.

I watched River of Souls last night (mainly for the B5 podcast I listen to) and it's not as bad as I thought. It wasn't great, but I liked what this movie did for Lochley. Also I still find the love Bat Hilarious.

I was wondering how the first-timers took the undisguised dread all the hosts had talking about watching River of Souls before they went into Spoiler Space in the "Objects at Rest" episode.
