Babylon 5

Mira was indeed processed to sound androgynous at first. The original idea was that we weren't sure what gender she was until she became a female Human/Minbari after the Chrysalis.
Yeah. It was surprising because I was expecting the processed voice. And then I wondered whether they were new lines that she redubbed or just the original lines unprocessed.

I’m pretty sure it’s the original lines without the processing. Some people have claimed to remember watching the original cut with her voice processed, but the copy I got of the original cut off of iTunes in the mid-2000s had her normal voice, and JMS talked about deciding against pitch-shifting her voice on line before the original airing.

The only place I’ve ever heard the original altered voice for Deleen is in this Sci-Fi Buzz preview of the pilot before it premiered (see 1:15 in):

I recorded the pilot in 1993 and Mira Furlan’s voice wasn’t altered in the final aired version.

That does sound like a bog standard possessed by demon/alien voice. It's for the best they dropped that since needing the extra step on all the Minbari actors just for the sake of the Delenn character arc doesn't add very much to portraying the Minbari.

Apparently, Mira also protested, not thinking that having her features completely disguised (and gender flipped) and having her voice altered so there was no element that was specifically her in the performance was worth the twist of having Delenn go from being Sinclair's badass alien bro to his sexy alien lady friend. Which makes sense, especially considering there was no certainty the show would last long enough to execute on that plot move.

I saw a fan reprocess another scene from the pilot to deepen Delenn's voice. It was a bit more successful with modern technology (or not being an old VHS recorded off of basic cable), a little less flangey and metallic.

Totally understandable on Furlan’s part. They originally wanted Deleen’s makeup to be even more severe than it ended up. Furlan was originally painted turquoise with spots and wore solid black contacts in early makeup tests.

It does seem as though JMS had pretty grand ideas for B5 that budget and production and other realities brought back down to Earth (at least to some degree).

It almost makes me wonder what the show would have been like if he could have done everything he wanted to, and whether I'd like it more or less than what we got.

Yeah like I said in the other post I'm not sure if I was imagining Mira having a processed voice or not. Having watched the whole thing, maybe I got confused with the Minbari suicide bomber, in that I mean, maybe I imagined their voice as Delenn's. I always remembered them saying "There is a hole in your mind," but maybe I thought Delenn had said it or something. I hadn't seen it since something like 96.
I was kinda looking forward to hearing the Stewart Copeland music too because i remember thinking what the hell is this when I first saw it.

One of the two Babylon 5 projects in development has been publicly announced, a JMS-led remake to air on the CW.

TVLine has learned that the reboot Straczynski is developing for The CW follows John Sheridan, an Earthforce officer with a mysterious background, who is assigned to Babylon 5, a five-mile-long space station in neutral space. Babylon 5 serves as a port of call for travelers, smugglers, corporate explorers and alien diplomats at a time of uneasy peace and the constant threat of war. Sheridan arrival triggers “a destiny beyond anything he could have imagined,” when an exploratory Earth company accidentally triggers a conflict with a civilization a million years ahead of us, putting him and the rest of the B5 crew in the line of fire as the last, best hope for the survival of the human race.

Described as a “from-the-ground-up reboot” of the original, Straczynski will pen the script for a new potential version of the former syndicated drama from Warner Bros. TV. The new take revolves around John Sheridan (originally played by Bruce Boxleitner), an Earthforce officer with a mysterious background, who is assigned to Babylon 5, a five-mile-long space station in neutral space, a port of call for travelers, smugglers, corporate explorers and alien diplomats at a time of uneasy peace and the constant threat of war.
