Babylon 5: The Unanswered Questions

1. Who is Lando’s first wife?
Lobot's sister...Lobotta

2. Why was Delenn on Centauri Prime?
She couldn't afford the space fare to leave.

3. What was Kosh going to do with that data crystal of recordings of Talia?

4. The Telepath War?
It's not what you think...or it was just that.
5. What is Garibaldi’s most favorite thing in the universe?
Booze.

6. What were each of Londo’s chances for redemption?
They involved coupons.

7. Why do G’kar and Mariel know each other?
Used to carpool together

8. Was Delenn’s story about the temple true or a story to comfort the Markab child? If true who or what appeared to her?

9. Is new Earth the Vorlon homeworld?
No, actually, the Vorlon homeworld is mostly a parking lot and a few seedy antique malls. New Earth is inhabited by Debrah Farentino and some other losers, along with some trite local species, and of course, Roy Dotrice..

10. If Lochley was concerned enough about the safety of the station, why wasn’t Draal’s help requested?
Draal hates that bitch.

Does she know about Draal’s promise to put the Great Machine at Sheridan’s disposal?
No, he left her a note, but she tossed it out without reading it.

I've always wondered what happened to Talia after her "sleeper" personality assumed control of her ("Divided Loyalties"). There was a casual mention about her by Bester to somebody in S3 or S4 about what Psi-Corp found when they "dissected" (or "debriefed"- Bester changed terms suddenly when the other person- Lyta?- reacted negatively to the first term) her.

What were the Hand?

I don't know if it's confirned anywhere else, but I kind of remember one of the Mongoose books hinting that the Hand are the descendants of cultists who were once under the sway of the Thirdspace aliens - who had been enslaved/brainwashed/converted over the course of the first Invasion way back in the day...

...and, unfortunately, want their xenocidal 'gods' back in this galaxy.

In the movie script book, JMS was asked whether the Hand was connected in any way to the race from 'Thirdspace' and he said they weren't.

It was when Bester was talking to Garibaldi... The latter got a wee bit upset when he said "dissec.... debriefed", IIRC.

Oh right! S3: "Dust to Dust" It's been too long since I watched it all the way through and it's no longer on the dial anywhere AFAIK. So, which one do you think he REALLY meant? Do you think she died/got killed and then dissected? Or was she merely debriefed? That is never answered anywhere AFAIK. Maybe she'll show up if and when the Telepath War story is ever produced/outlined, maybe she'll play a role in it- on the side of the Corps?

Also, does anybody know what the (stated/reported) reason(s) given for Andrea Thompson's departure? Her character had developed considerably since the start of the show and she had a lot of potential, particularly in regards to her relationship with Ivanova.

I think I read that JMS's intent was that Bester was just pushing Garibaldi's buttons with the pretend-slip about dissecting her, and that she was actually alive, well, and evil. Of course, Bester's line also gave rise to the urban legend that in a later episode, you could see a brain in a jar labeled "Winters" in Psi Corps Headquarters.

Andrea asked to be released from her contract because she felt that she wasn't getting enough screen time. JMS tried to tell her that if she'd wait, her character's arc would come to the fore but she didn't want to wait and JMS couldn't change the story to please one actor.

Um, the mysterious operative in the ruins of San Diego-who dat?

They showed this at least twice in season 2, IIRC. Having just finished all of the series last night (it was amazing by the way--I'll post a more detailed analysis tomorrow), this is one thing that bugged me. There are a few other minor questions, but most were answered in this thread and elsewhere.

The San Diego operative was one thing I've never been able to find an answer to, though.

She was part of the quickly abandoned Bureau 13 story, correct? I think she only appeared in one episode, "A Spider in the Web" IIRC. I wish that had been followed up upon, but like a few episodes written by Larry DiTillo, there wasn't room for follow up later on.

JMS dropped the Bureau 13 storyline because after the fact he discovered there was an RPG game under that title and he didn't want to get sued, so we're to assume that little conspiracy was silently folded into the larger PsiCorps/Clark conspiracy. Also Talia's abrupt departure (again not by JMS' choice but the actress leaving the show) made the story redundant as well.

Actually, I rather think Bureau 13 was going to re-emerge in Crusade. Not in name of course and not necessarily involving that officially dead Psi Cop, rather it was a facet of a larger conspiracy in the Earth Alliance that survived after Clark's downfall and was behind the Shadow Hybrid that destroyed Gideon's ship, probably the Advanced Omega Destroyers as well as the digs on Mars & Ganymede too.

Remember that the whole Drakh Plague bit wasn't going to be the crux of the series any more than the Narns acting increasingly aggressive wasn't the main crux of B5 - though you may have been left with the impression it was about half way into season one. Crusade seems as though it was going to be about the left over First One tech, what was being done with it and what it's connection was to the Technomages. The connection to 13 comes from one of the Psi Corp novels; though I haven't read them (yet) I gather there's supposed to be a connection between that facility in the San Diago wastes and some Vorlon tech from around the time the Corps was formed.

How exactly did the Drakh Plague get cured? What was the end result of the human experiments with Shadow Tech in Crusade?

Joe's got that Babylon 5 graphic novel coming out, and I highly suspect it will refer to this.

Why, in The Deconstruction of Falling Stars, was Earth's sun dying only a million years into the future. Sol has billions of years of life left (naturally at least).
