Babylon 5 - I'm finally going to do it

The Council scene in "Twilight Struggle" is my all time favorite scene. "Earthforce requests the right to send observers" "That request is DENIED." the look on Sheridan's face is priceless! "Fall of Night" I thought was just alright; since I'd been spoiled on the entire series I already knew Kosh was an "angel" :p Season Three is my favorite season. It's definitely got the best opening sequence with that awesome music. "Babylon 5 was our last, best hope for peace. It FAILED". :D

One thing that I found a bit frustrating that each season of B5 always seemed to take several episodes to "find its way"... I'm not sure why. S1-S3 certainly follow that pattern. Sure there are good moments, and stuff that helps build the momentum, but much of it seems like "filler" at times. IMO episode 306 ("Dust to Dust") is the first really strong episode of S3. But the real fun starts in Ep 308 ("Messages From Earth")...

But more about that when you get there. ;)

It's not so much an issue of finding it's way so much as it an issue of pacing. If the season starts out at a dead run then it makes it difficult to maintain that pace and would ultimately undermine the impact of the finale.
Plus of course it's a good idea to make each new season accessible to new viewers, so some time is taken to reintroduce things, which also gives whatever happened in the previous season some time to breath.

Any arc-heavy series has a slow start to a season. LOST, Buffy, Angel, Farscape, 24 (well the first episode or two anyway)...

Dunno why I haven't dropped by this thread earlier...

Confessions and Lementations

That episode was sad. The look from Delenn pretty much said it all and I was quite bummed that Franklin was too late.

While I was watching this episode for the first time, I figured it would be one of those standard "race to find a cure/solution/whatever solves the problem and use it just in time" stories. So when they opened the hatch and found they were all dead, it completely floored me.

I'll echo what others have said about the council scene in "The Long, Twilight Struggle". One of the great moments of the series. :techman:

Well, since we're talking about episodes down the line, while I'm looking forward to all of them, I'm really looking forward to the War Without End two parter.

Just because it's the only other two parter in the series? Or do you know what happens in it in some form?

I don't know what happens, but I do know the stations previous Commander comes back so I think it ties up some really big lose ends from Season 1. Mainly though, it's because he comes back in some way.

once you've seen WWE, i highly recommend reading To Dream in the City of Sorrows.

Once you've seen WWE, watch it again. I don't know about anyone else, but there was so much going on in that episode that I couldn't keep it all straight!

^^^ Isn't "WWE" one of those professional wrestling acronyms? I shudder at the connection! :P Speaking of which I'm channel flipping and I think I see President Clark on a Nickelodeon show called ICarly! He hasn't aged too much if that's him...

I was going to make a comment about that. Other than Raw which I only watch sometimes, I don't watch WWE at all.

The first time I saw War Without End, it made me go back and rewatch Babylon Squared. Then rewatched War Without End a second time.
