I loved the WW II parallels on the show. I even thought the "artwork" was cool and echoed WW II.

The "racism" does have a reason and plays into the overall story.

I loved the Zach/Night Watch arc. I thought it was really well done.

I never cared for Knives. None of the plot threads serve to push the story forward. They just put a few storylines in idle while waiting for Straczynski to continue them. The show only gets better from here on, though (with a few bumps, but you'll see them when you see them).

Devided Loyalties

The one was very good, but a little predictable. They played it up so much that Talia was the Traiter (That, and the fact that she is gone from the series after this season) because her relationship with Ivanova rung a bit hollow. Yeah it was slowly developing, but Ivanova going from absolutely hating her guts to letting her sleep with her just seemed a bit of a stretch. Still, it was great seeing Lyta back, and the final scene with Kosh was a nice touch. Kind of wish there was time to catch up between her and Garibaldi (Such as I don't think the series has mentioned what happened to Takashima yet) but it had to stay the course so that's minor.

Looks like Sheridan and Delenn are getting closer with each episode. I guess this series is not immune to having a relationship develop and I'm fine with it.

There's no problem with having a relationship develop between two major characters. Especially not when it's handled as well as the one between Sheridan and Delenn. It actually felt real.

It didn't seem forced like some of the relationships on ModTrek -- i.e. Chakotay and Seven of Nine or Trip and T'Pol -- or on nuBSG (Dualla and Lee).

Delenn and Sheridan's relationship progressed slowly over the course of several episodes, it didn't spring up one episode out of nowhere.

Postscript -- although the Adama and Roslin realtionship, like Delenn and Sheridan's, was handled quite well. Something that had been built throughout the seasons instead of being dropped in out of the blue.

The Ivanova/Talia relationship always felt so forced to me. I could see a tepid friendship budding, but not much else.

That being said, Talia's departure never irked me because I much preferred Lyta as a character.

Pat Tallman seemed to own her role, whilst I felt that Andrea...(blanked) never felt at home with Talia.

Lyta is a million times better than Talia. It's too bad she wasn't on the show from the get-go. As for the lesbian action, I believe the justification was that Control/Talia was doing anything in its/her power to ingratiate itself to the command staff to uncover the conspiracy, including lezzing out. Ivanova, always unlucky with men and perhaps still grieving her father, said what the hell why not?

I was a little "meh" myself to "Divided Loyalties"... But the last three episodes of the season are all quite excellent. I'm looking forward to reading your reaction to them.

As for Talia (Andrea Thompson) vs. Lyta (Pat Tallman) - I really don't have much of a preference. Neither actress was overly blessed with thespian skills, at least from what we saw. But it would have been interesting to see where JMS ultimately had planned to go with the Talia character - but it was not to be, since the actress wanted out of the show.

I've been thinking about this episode quite a bit, and the more I think about it, the more I didn't really like it. There are just a lot of burning questions to come out of it, one being what about her and the gift she received from Jason Ironheart. Also, that relationship between her and Ivanova is kind of irking me in that while it did somewhat develop, it did feel more of a stretch given Ivanova's opinion of her and Psi-Corps in the beginning. Going back to Ironheart, why didn't he find out if he was this all powerful being who seemed to be losing control of himself.

There were good moments and it was good to see Lyta again, but this episode might be more towards the bottom of season 2 than in the middle.

Tomalak, much of the Talia plot threads (such as Ironheart, her budding TK, and more) unfortunately had to be dumped when the actress (& character) left the show. Some more closure would have been nice on those points, but it was not to be.

Ooo! Is "Long Twilight Struggle" your next episode? That is my all time number one favorite episode! Most people don't put it at the top of their list but I love every damn second it. Number One!
