*G* Well, yes that could be, that they are less pronounced. However Damars ridges as an adult are a lot more pronounced than with many of the other Cardassians (Dukats eye ridges for example are not as heavy and the scales are lesser to see as they are with Damars...maybe its Dukats age?)..so I thought maybe he all ready was a very "ridgy" baby.

Oh, I don't agree that Damar's ridges were more pronouned than Dukat's. Actually I think it's the other way around, Dukat's ridges were very sharp, Damar's rounder and, while clear, soften in a way.
I had an impression that the older a Cardassian gets, the sharper his/her features are. We could see only a few Cardassian children (Gul Madred's daughter, that girl in the Tozhat orphanage), but their features were smooth. Maybe because they were girls, maybe because they were girls AND children.
I like the drawing, but I feel like looking at adult Damar, not baby. The latter drawing shows him after the Dominion cloned a new Weyoun to replace Weyoun 5

Really now? I have to compare pictures of those two again... I find that Damars ridges have more detail. Especially in Return to Grace, there he is as ridgy as he never was after it again.

I like that you have added those chest ridges. If I remember correctly we've seen a Cardassian with those ridges only once, Natima Lang, and never again. I wonder why - too much trouble with make up? I don't think Cardassians have ridges only on their faces, actually I think that their bodies are covered with scales more than their faces.

Well, young children are usually chubby, even if they grow to thin people.
I don't think Damar was chubby. He was a fine, slim man. He might appear "chubby" compared to Dukat, who was taller and had looooonger neck.

I would add to the discussion of ridging on children that there MIGHT be regulations in Hollywood as to what kind and how much makeup can be applied to children, compared to adults. Not sure, but I do think there are actually child labor laws that address that.

Yes, Dukats son/ daughter.... probably only surviving child of his, I guess. Unless the ones or some on Cardassia prime survived as well.
However that one also had not a lot make up on...and it showed a half cardassian baby, so the ridges would be not as pronounced as in a full cardassian baby anyway.

Yes, there was. His ridges were more distinct than Ziyals, LOL That baby was way too Cardassian and not enough Bajoran for my taste.
We could also see Seska's baby in Voyager, and his ridges were smoother.
Yes, I realise there might be some rule, or at least common sense not to apply heavy stuff on children. I think in some episode, was it Voyager?, whole make up was FX, not real. It was clearly visibile in the episode, but I understand the reasoning behind it, so I didn't mind.

Damar does have particularly prominent ridges--kind of like Tekeny Ghemor had. One interesting thing to notice is that ridge shape does seem to be an inheritable characteristic...look at the way Ziyal's eye ridges are shaped and you can actually see that angular appearance that Dukat's have. Of course, she had only one set of genetic information for eye ridges, so for her, for it to be an exact copy is to be expected. But you can see it too in Iliana Ghemor, who even though her ridges don't jut out quite as far, she DOES have similar eye ridges to her father.
I wouldn't necessarily say Damar is chubby...someone like Tekeny is a little more on the heavyset side than that. But, I would say Damar is stockier in build than Dukat, who is very tall, slender, and angular.

Sorry *L* I feel So nervous, because of the examination tomorrow, so I try to get my mind of it and gave drawing Damar another try. This time he is obviously not a baby anymore, but a boy of 8 years.

And Damars ridges are also rounder and nearer to the eyes...while Garak for example has them much further away from the eyes on the downside towards the cheeks. Well, maybe thats because they needed certain expressions...Garaks ridges make him look trickier, slyer..or whatever the word... while Damars ridges all ready give him more the rough guy look.

Gul Re'jal...I suspect the mix of Cardassian and Bajoran features varies. For me, Ziyal is VERY Bajoran--and I suspect this was a choice by the makeup department to make her seem more "sympathetic" by not letting her have a Cardassian's more reptilian looks. However, I assume the mix can be different. In an AU I wrote where Ziyal was conceived under entirely opposite circumstances and where instead her father is the one who is a fit parent and her mother is not, this is something that will be very hard on Ziyal Dukat--not only is she a hybrid, but in appearance she tends noticeably more towards her Bajoran half and it gets her picked on. 
For a child to tend more towards the Cardassian side is entirely possible. Remember that IF we assume that all combinations are viable (and I think they aren't when you're dealing with hybrids and in my own universe many fetuses will spontaneously abort without help ), we should not expect a perfect 50/50 distribution to necessarily happen...remember that each gene has its own 50/50 probability, not the entire genome.

The funny thing is, though, Tekeny Ghemor has a look much like Damar's. I tend to think they came from the same part of Cardassia Prime, myself.
