Especially considering the Dominion supposedly never lost a conflict in its existence. Given they had to tuck tail and go back to the Gamma Quadrant, this might have given all the subject races over there the push they needed to rise up and fight them. I've always wondered how it went over there, particularly since all the races there are VERY advanced technologically. They wouldn't have an easier time than the Alpha Quadrant necessarily, but they might have had a few advantages on the outset than the Alpha Quadrant didn't have, like knowing their enemy far better from the jump.

I’d love for any of these “rumors” to be true but I’ll believe it when I see it.

I do fully expect to see some of the DS9 cast do voices on Lower Decks though.

I'd like to see a revived DS9. However, it depends on the people they get. As nice as it would be to get the original actors, some aren't around any more, and many more are retired from acting and really wouldn't be into getting up at 4:00 AM so they can be in the makeup chair at 5:30. Five to six days a week throughout shooting. And who can blame them? So it would depend on getting really good replacement actors. Also the writers, much of what made DS9 special was the writing, would the writers come back? Or come to advise? And then there's salary. Studios expect to make a show at relatively modest salaries, if they've moved forward in their careers and can demand higher salaries now, the revived show might not work out.

I'd say get some writers back and then higher some twenty year olds to add fresh blood to the writing staff. From there one will definitely need new actors, too. I'd hope for at least getting Shimmerman back. I feel like Quark's is the center of DS9. You can film an entire episode in Quark's and it wouldn't be an issue.

Then I'd say ask for Visitor and Dorn back: Kira in charge of the station and Worf as captain of it's defense ship.

Something I always thought was ripe for a main character was a Cardassian child soldier now being a Starfleet officer. I think it's an important storyline to tell but also works wonderfully as a mentee under Worf.

Most likely, the latter than the former. Take this 'news' with skepticism.

Maybe just the same story that was originally posted, picked up by other "news" sources?

Best case, CBS started the rumor themselves, and if there's a huge outpouring of fans eager for the Return of DS9, they'll do it.

Given how popular DS9 has become in recent years, it has a strong possibility of a LOT of fan support.

CBS isn't going to be paying attention to fan support for a completely fake thing that some fool made up and stuck on the Internet to dupe gullible people.

This kind of 'news' is why I miss Starlog magazine, a lot.

And since Google keeps pushing the story to my phone, I find the story even less believable (though I do consider a "Deep Space 9: The Emissary Returns" show a great concept).

I'm not saying this is true, but here's another report that seems more plausible:

"According to my source (the same source that was first to break the news that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds was happening), the series would follow the pattern already established by Star Trek: Picard and basically be Star Trek: Sisko. Cirroc Lofton, who played Ben Sisko’s son Jake on DS9, would co-star in the show along with Avery Brooks back as Sisko. No one else from the original Star Trek: Deep Space Nine cast is expected to be involved at all, at least not in the show’s first season. It’s worth noting that our source says: “CBS does not want Lofton to be part of it, yet Brooks is adamant that he will not do the show without him.
    .....
CBS is still in early, early development on Star Trek: Sisko and there are a couple of big obstacles in the way of making it a reality. Our source tells us the biggest is Avery Brooks who is 72-years-old, long since retired, and not really interested in acting anymore. The suits at CBS are talking to him anyway and they believe that by making the show about racial injustice and the relationship between Star Trek’s first black Captain and his now grown son, they can get Brooks involved. These are themes Avery Brooks cares deeply about and making the show dedicated to pushing a specific message about racial inequality is really the only way they believe can get Brooks involved.

The other big obstacle here is Star Trek: Picard, which underperformed in its first season. The ratings weren’t good and before CBS is willing to greenlight Star Trek: Sisko they’re going to wait and see if the ratings for Picard improve in season 2. They’re optimistic about that and if there’s a strong uptick in Picard’s ratings, then expect to hear more about them moving forward with Star Trek: Sisko."

there is a lot of fan support for an HD remastered DS9 (and Voyager for that matter) but those are going nowhere.
