That would totally help tie Incredible Hulk into the greater MU even more. Having Liv appear as Betty alongside the others to calm Bruce or something. Excellent idea. I liked IH and would hate if just cause Norton isn't back as Banner that Marvel just gloss over it in favor of other material.

I also like the mentions of Maria Hill as another female minor character in the movie.

Maria Hill would be great as would be Sharon Carter or maybe we'll see Abigail Brand who is a Joss creation and Agent of Sword who deal with interstellar affairs. I think Gwenyth has stated that she won't be in "Avengers" a couple of months ago. Maybe the Contessa Valentina Allegra di Fontaine who has been portrayed up until Maria Hill debuted as Nick Fury's deputy director I believe and one of his most trusted agents. I like the idea of Liv Tyler reprising her role as Betty Ross but it would probably be in a minimal capacity depending on how Banner and Hulk are used.

Interesting that multiple facets of Avengers comics will be used in the film which doesn't surprise me. I've always suspected that we'll get a combination of 616 and Ultimate universe stuff in the film.

So... if Avengers is a hit, any idea yet who they'll get to direct Avengers 2 because Marvel won't want to give Whedon a raise? ;)

would be pretty cool if each director (Favraeau, Leterrier, Johnston, and Brannagh) got a crack at any Avengers sequels with Whedon getting his own character(s) to work with and do a movie on or if by then. Like Vision or Hank Pym/Wasp, Ms. Marvel, etc But that will probably never happen.

Brief cut of a conversation with Mark Ruffallo and him taking Banner.
The nutshell seems to be that in his opinion the genre has become respectable now.
"I probably wouldn't have done this movie in the past. But because of what Robert [Downey Jr] had done and where that genre has gone since then, I did it."

While paychecks certainly help it might lend some credence to why other big name actors are popping up in roles from Batman to Green Lantern and Thor. Stigma has faded away. Probably also due to studios treating the material more serious.

Heath Ledger winning an Oscar (albeit posthumously) probably helped the cause, too.

I think they may as well recast and then do a new new Hulk movie after The Avengers. Jennifer Connolly was miles better than Liv.

Jeremy Renner gives his opinion on what his Hawkeye costume may & may not look like.
"I think it's going to be a little more reality-based," said Renner. "You can kind of tell with Scarlett [Johansson]'s character [in 'Iron Man 2'], it's going to be more of a uniform . . . and not a big purple, comics sort of thing."
"That's why I think it's more palatable to audiences — there's almost a sense of reality to these superheroes," he explained. "That's what makes it interesting to me, anyway."

That's actually true to the comics. Heck, if they "Break Up" during the film they can just have him run in a blonde SHIELD Bio-Chemist whom he takes a liking to as a reference to Mockingbird.

Too bad. He won't quite seem like Hawkeye to me without the distinctive purple mask. I understand their concerns about it possibly looking silly, but I think a black & purple ensemble for Hawkeye could look pretty sharp if they did it right.

He could still have some purple in his outfit, but there wasn't any chance Hawkeye was going to be wearing the big huge mask. He'll more than likely look more like the Ultimate version of Hawkeye.

Worked for 45 years in the comics. And it's a damn sight better than a dumb Matrix ripoff.
