Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

Not this Avengers team. Not this movie. Not this Spider-man.
If it was a continuation of the prior continuity where Spider-man is an established hero I might could go with it. Not this 'rookie' on the team. Not yet.

Not as a member, maybe Spidey/Peter talks to Iron Man/Tony or something like that...
Also, the Avengers have not that much more experience at being heroes than Spidey, since in the Marvel Cinematic Universe it is also the beginning for pretty much all of the (super)heroes and villains...

Yep "Avengers" will be their first outing as a full team. They're basically learning to be heroes as well. They're all "rookies" as far as Fury is concerned. Captain Craig is posting as if the Avengers are already established in the Marvel Cinematic Universe which they're not. I remember the gag reel from "X-Men"...Spidey showed up :)

Well based on TIH, Hulk has been around for at least 5 years.
Iron Man has been around for over 6 months
Captain America, well, decades
Thor is a timeless deity just appearing
Black Widow and Hawkeye are the "rookies" for this team.
All this film is doing is getting them together. The fact that in the MCU most of them have been out doing heroics, sans Hulk, for some time is what I meant. Spidey is, again, just showing up and this team has it's "rookies'>

Just as long as it doesn't take screentime away from Cobie Smulders
talking of, what is she going to do in this movie, I mean seriously I got no idea what kind of role she will play in the movie, and I dont think ive seen her in any promotional stuff.

Thinking about it, its not like there isnt enough characters in the movie already, ok you could say the the movie could do with another female after Black Widow, but other than that im not sure what role she will play.

No big spoilers, I dont want to know that is turns out to be Nicky Furys mother, and she is having a relationship with Hawkeye or anything like that.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

She has been on several of the posters. I haven't really heard much, but the impression I've gotten is that she's going to be Nick Fury's second in command. At this point I'm thinking it's just a supporting role, I don't think she's actually going to be part of the team or anything like that.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

SLJ called the character Fury's "sidekick" in an interview when he said he would be doing screen-tests with various actresses.

so, yeah, pretty much Fury's #2 at SHIELD with Coulson.

In regards to Studio crossovers, on my DVDs of Iron Man, Captain America and Thor they all have Paramount on them. Yet the Incredible Hulk one has Universal on it.
So I just wondered why can Paramount and Universal work together then?

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

Paramount and Universal just distributed the movies. Neither studio actually owned them.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

Universal had the rights to Hulk and did Ang Lee's Hulk. Marvel bought the rights back and Universal got the distribution deal.

Paramount did the distribution for IM1 and 2 and IIRC, did Thor. IIRC, Cap was distributed by Disney, but Paramount gets credit. That's definitely the case on Avengers, though, Paramount's logo goes on it, but Disney distribute. there was some arcane deal done after Disney bought Marvel.

Is Empire a UK only thing? I always see them doing all of this cool stuff, but I don't remember ever seeing it here in the US.

Cobie Smulders is playing Deputy Director Maria Hill. I don't know if that will be her position in the film but that is what she has been in the comics. During Bendi's current run she has acted as the team's liaison with Shield and Captain America before he re-assumed leadership of the team.

@Captain Craig...you're correct that MCU heroes have been around longer than presumably the new Spider-Man will have been around, but in terms of sheer superhero experience they are all in their infancy. As for Steve, he's only been active in the later stages of World War II...not "decades". This team isn't as seasoned together as the comic book version for instance. This is what I think Rincewind and I are talking about. Their ages notwithstanding their overall experience is relatively young. I could see a young Spider-Man working fairly well with them actually.

it is a UK film magazine yes. the leading one, with Total Film close behind.

A new behind the scenes still of Black Widow and Hawkeye in action for a bridge battle sequence during the film. Released by Marvel, the green screen is prominent in the background, likely to be NYC shots I'd guess.
