Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

Some of the images show blue blood stains on Thor's armor and Cap's shield, and while I'm not totally up to speed on Marvel, that makes me think...

Kree, as opposed to Skrulls.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

The villain constumes are "interesting". Or are they going to be replaced by CGI or something.

They're using motion capture for

Skrulls
Could be, but as noted that isn't confirmed.

Could be anything.
Maybe...
Kree, Frost Giants, misc robot droids

The color looks better in those shots, and you can see more detail in the costume. It's not nearly as offensive.

Offensive? I never understood when people throw this claim. It is one thing to not care for something, but to actually deem it offensive?

 Oh dear, I didn't even think about that use of the term - like politically or morally offensive or something. I meant offensive in an aesthetic sense (to my taste), as in an offensive taste or odor or a picture one finds ugly.

Next time I'll look for a less ambiguous term. "It's not nearly as much of a turn-off?"

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

Well, there have been two strikes against the Hulk on the big screen so far, because Hulk has not smashed. Yet, I'm hoping.
He kind of wrecked the office in the Ang Lee movie. I kind of related to that.

Hmm... looking to be turned on by Captain America's costume, are you? :shifty:

Hulk smashed in "The Incredible Hulk" during the University sequence as well. Maybe the more appropriate statement is that the Hulk hasn't smashed enough for fans, but then I am one who really enjoyed "The Incredible Hulk" and didn't think "Hulk" was that bad either.

Here are some "Avengers" cast photos from the D23 screening.

Yeah, I haven't seen the movie yet, and I already have a favorite dialogue exchange.

As for the guys in the mocap suit's, I'm wondering if perhaps they're Loki's army. But that just leaves the question of what kind of army.

The spoilers that have been suggested in the thread of the villains are on the right track despite the fact that it hasn't been confirmed officially yet. Did I just spoil that by being vague as to not outright spoil now?

I haven't gotten to any screen or comic stories involving the villains I think you're talking about, but everything I've read about them sounds cool. So I'm really hoping they are in the movie, even if it's just a cameo at the end. That's pretty much been my theory since the rumors of their appearance first popped up on the net, that they would just make a cameo in the post-credits scene.

I thought that the set of images I linked to a while back made it quite obvious that the
Skrulls
are in the movie. The mocaps were
wielding weapons that are obviously of extraterrestrial design, so they have to be aliens.
And it doesn't really make sense to me to feature
the Kree but no Skrulls
in an Avengers movie.

But maybe that's just me.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

Well
they have been eternally linked since the Avengers' first Kree-Skrull War arc. Funny enough both were first introduced in the Fantastic Four series. I think the Kree-Skrull War was the first time the Avengers fought either one.

I'll be a bit vague as well. The Plain Dealer (Cleveland's newspaper) has more or less confirmed that the villains are actually the first option mentioned.

;)

We're gonna need that footage stat!

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

OK, here's a few pix from our return trip downtown yesterday morning. This first one shows a lighting crane that's aimed towards the face of the old Cleveland Trust Company building, which is subbing for Capitol One. In particular, the lights seemed to be aimed at one window in particular:

Apparently, they were shooting INSIDE the building, and not out on the street... Which was a bit disappointing. Though both the Missus and I wondered why they had the lights trained on that window, and the cops had the crowd move from the south side of Euclid (closest to the closed off set) to the north side of the street if they weren't doing any outside filming.

This shot shows the corner of 9th and Euclid... Note the redressed street sign:

Finally, we got to see a bunch of the extras hanging around the entrance to the Trust/Capitol One building, before they went back in for the shoot:

I didn't get any shots of the Stuttgart set on Public Square, but we're thinking of going back one more time this week once they're done and actually filming at night.

More pix to come...

Avengers Footage shown at D23! Very cool spoilers!

Stark: We’ve got a demigod, two ex-assassins, and a living legend that actually lives up to the legend, And you’ve managed to piss off all of them.

Loki: I have an army.

Tom Hiddleston discuss a battle in the film.
It's in spoiler code, read at your choosing.

"Uh, that is basically Manhattan being destroyed by Loki's army. I'm not allowed to be specific about how that army is mad up, but that's the battle for Manhattan. Yeah, that's me blowing up the city and the Avengers are trying to stop me." "There's one scene in the film at the end of the film where I'm looking up at the Avengers assembled. You've got Thor and Captain America and Iron Man and Hawkeye and Black Widow and the Incredible Hulk, and they're staring me down in one shot. And that was the day I realized we're definitively making The Avengers."
It's more of him describing a set-up to a battle but I coded it just in case.
