As long as those really are Chris Evans' ears, I'm happy. Nobody (with the possible exception of A Beaker Full of Death ;)) wants a repeat of this...

Come on, The Widow's in a classic kicking pose. I've a hard time recalling anyone flying in that pose.

It's just a promo poster...for the licensing expo, hence it resembling art. It's fine for what it's meant to be. I'm sure when a real poster is released it will be normal looking one, and yeah Natasha is clearly in a aerial kicking pose in that poster.

What I mean is I tend to look at a scene and say ‘This is absolutely impossible, we can’t shoot this, it’s horrible. I can tell you 10 other movies its been in, I refuse.’ I usually start off the morning by refusing to do what I’ve signed on to do. So I brought that attitude, happily. I just thought ‘How are you gonna put all of us clowns together? He’s wearing a suit, he’s all jacked up, he’s so and so and poor Mark Ruffalo, he’s gonna out do us’. And we’re about six weeks in and I have to say Joss Whedon is nailing it. He’s so smart and so good. And it’s gonna be great. I can’t believe I just said it, I never could’ve believed this but it’s gonna be great.

And... he's right, I do want it. If that's the very worst shot of that costume - and I think it is - I'll take it any day over the suspenders and patches look.

I agree. But what I see in that merchandising art looks a damn sight better than the stills I've seen of the Cap movie costume so far. But if we end up getting something along those lines in The Avengers, I can grit my teeth and wait.

Too bad Hawkeye doesn't have a mask, though.

It wasn't supposed to mean, it was supposed to friendly ribbing, hence the ";)" from my original post that didn't seem to be included in your quote of my post...

It was an awful, laughable outfit. The people making the movie know far better than to settle for something like that. Toning the whole thing down helps a lot. The wings are inherently dorky.

^ Everything about superheroes is inherently dorky if the adapters don't have faith in the subject matter. But when they do, we get convincing, faithful versions, like Superman the Movie.
As for the wings, they're part of a classic motif that hearkens back not only to the mythic roots of superheroes in the first place, and not only to the patriotic symbolism that was so much a part of American commercial art in that era, but also to the art deco sensibilities of the preceding few years.

Hallelujah. Looks like I'll be seeing this in 2D, then.

I thought Joe Johnston tried out the 3D cameras and decided he didn't like it, so they'd add 3D to Captain America in post-production.
