Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

(though I wouldn't be surprised if they never say it, as it's kinda cheesy),

I don't care about cheese. It's iconic. It has to be there. One of my favorite parts of The Incredible Hulk was "Hulk Smash!" Ditto for Ben Grimm's "It's Clobberin' Time!" Besides, since when has cheese ever scared Joss Whedon?

(I can't remember, has Hugh Jackman's Wolverine ever said "I'm the best there is at what I do..." ect?)
Not that I recall but he has used a token word associated with him at least once I recall: Bub.

I think it was X2, during the midnight raid at the school. "I don't know who you are but you picked the wrong house bub *snikit*

As for Avengers Assemble I could see it being said just not shouted as they run out into battle. It could for sure be worked in and utilized in a manner that doesn't evoke cheese but it should be there in some manner.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

Wolverine's "best there is..." is really clunky for a catchphrase; the various other media don't really use it, and it doesn't show up in the comics a tremendous amount either. "Bub" is his signature verbal tic.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

Wolverine also said "bub" in the first movie, during his fight with Sabretooth: "Hey, bub, I'm not finished with you yet!"

SPOILERS within at the link. Read at your choosing.

How S.H.I.E.L.E.D. is seen in The Avengers and what agents we'll see along with tech and vehicles.

New details about the clandestine organization that plays a pivotal role in the upcoming ensemble superhero film have been passed along by a source working on it's New Mexico set.
The Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division -- also known as S.H.I.E.L.D. -- has been the "glue" binding the Marvel Cinematic Universe together; but with The Avengers, fans will get to see the clandestine organization at full strength. A source close to the film's production has shared a few tidbits of information regarding their upgraded presence in the project: *begin link if you choose*

Wolverine said his signature phrase in Origins.

Awesome. I was hoping Valentina would be in the film.

Makes me wonder if the post-credits scene in Iron Man 2 was directed by Branagh, rather than Favreau.

Probably, since it seems it was just a straight lift of a sequence from the movie itself.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

Right. Of course, this also makes me wonder if the Hawkeye scene in Thor was directed by Whedon. I thought that was very clearly added in after the fact, and one of Hawkeye's lines sounded very Whedony.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

^^^^
Doubt it. We do know Whedon got to tinker with the Captain America script a bit but AFAIK he didn't touch the Thor one. Are you referring to the line, "I'm starting to root for this guy."

It was directed by Branagh, albeit some time after the rest of the movie had finished. I think he shot the bits with Coulson first and then Renner came in afterwards and did his bit. That's why Hawkeye never interacts directly with any other cast members. I don't have a link but I did read an interview with Branagh about this and he mentioned how happy he was to work with Renner.

Ah, cool, thanks for the info. :techman:

And yeah, Captain Craig, that was the line I was thinking of.

Comicbookfilm is using a Twitter posting by someone claiming to be on set of filming for The Avengers. The user handle is @Lionheart3rd, decide for yourself if these are statements to get excited about.

First test explosion: Badassness!

Dargo'ing up the actors takes a bit

Scarlet came up to us and asked about our equipment. Funny watching her be impressed w/ us. She's pretty cool.

The crane shot of Hawkeye and Blackwidow is money.

Explosion 2: even badasser!

Watching them choreograph Cap beatin' up some aliens (or somethin) too cool.

The aliens use Jaffa staffs. Tel'c would not be pleased.

Everything is moving to the otherside of the set. It's funny watching Joss carry his chair.

Got the schedule for tomorrow, must try to be on that shift.

For those of you who geek over these things, they're using iPads to show ppl the shot lists w/ the CGI or a rough makeup of it.

Joss just did his example of an alien charging down set. Scary is not the first word I'd choose, nor the fifth.

Getting coverage w/ stunt doubles now. Suddenly a lot of shots are becoming clear.

I don't know if the author of this article knows something we don't or has only made the same type assumption regarding a teaser as many others have. Filming is underway and Captain America opens 60+ days after so something, anything small could be used as a teaser.
And while early promotion is expected in the coming weeks, I recently stumbled across potential reports from the set, via Twitter user Lionheart3rd.

Not sure where to put this without starting a new thread, so I figured this would be close enough.

Looks like Cap's modern day costume is going to be a bit closer to the comic book version than his World War II costume.
