If you are indicating that because the books are written and geared towards the adult reader that that is why sales are low you are mistaken. Several factors are in play.

-Comics are distributed through a direct market now vs newsstands(although a comeback is being staged)
-The bottom falling out of the collector/direct market in the late '90's
-The price increase over the last 15yrs from $1.50 per book to $4 for a book.

There's nothing "willy-nilly" about this - it's the considered judgment of the artists working on the movie. They certainly are not infallible - the history of popular film demonstrates quite the opposite - but their judgments are better informed by experience designing and shooting movies that are the ideas of comic book artists.

You're obviously having trouble distinguishing between your perceptions of "disdain" and the rights of the filmmakers to express reasonable, differing opinions of the source material versus what's desirable for getting the movie made properly.

What, did someone in an interview call that red-white-and-blue chainmail outfit with the head-wings "hokey" or something? Quelle horreur!

It's an online way of - wait for it - expressing "disdain" for another's opinion. ;)

Right. Because a random typo apparently invalidates my entire opinion. What a respectful attitude you're showing there.

Thanks for reminding me why I stopped coming here, guys.

^ You still haven't explained why you inserted the roll-eyes? Or was that also a random typo? I can't invalidate your opinion if you don't actually say what it is. I've set mine out, all you seem to be able to do is attack other people's.

I think there have been rumors of seeing the Hellicarrier in "Avengers". I'm sure we'll see some kind of version of them in the movie.

I don't think that there is any doubt in anyone's mind that at some point in the movie, at a dramatic high spot, someone will cry out "Avengers Assemble!" (and I actually get goosebumps thinking about. I am such a dork.:guffaw:)

Who do you think it will/should be? I'm thinking that it has to be either Steve Rogers, Tony Stark or Nick Fury. Personally, I want it to be Rogers.

If anyone's going to say it (though I wouldn't be surprised if they never say it, as it's kinda cheesy), it should definitely be Cap.

I don't care about cheese. It's iconic. It has to be there. One of my favorite parts of The Incredible Hulk was "Hulk Smash!" Ditto for Ben Grimm's "It's Clobberin' Time!" Besides, since when has cheese ever scared Joss Whedon?

(I can't remember, has Hugh Jackman's Wolverine ever said "I'm the best there is at what I do..." ect?)

I think it should be and will be Rogers. He's the heart and soul of the team. Tony maybe the current team leader of the Avengers in the books but he's not that embedded in the Marvel Movie Universe yet. I'll be disappointed if it's not Steve.

Steve has to be the leader of the Avengers. He's supposed to be the glue that holds them all together. I don't want Tony to be in charge; I want to see "The Avengers," not "Iron Man and the Avengers."

It will be intresting to see the end of "Captain America: First Avengers" and any post credit sequence ties into "Avengers".

since they managed to get Yo Joe! into ROC without being cheesy, i bet Avengers Assemble! will be used.

I dunno, they make Tony-as-leader work in Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, while also planting the seeds for Cap to take over. Personally I'd be have if Tony started out as leader but eventually conceded the position to Cap.

^But recall that currently in the movie-verse, Stark isn't even up for a spot on the team. He's a "consultant". I'm willing to bet that Stark's arc in the movie will largely be in just convincing Fury just to put him on the team at all. Leadership would be the last thing Fury would OK.

I never said anything about Tony being the leader of the team in the movie, I just pointed out that he was simply the leader of the team in the current books. Leadership of the team in the movie should go to Cap.
