Avengers Infinity War (and beyond) anticipation thread

While I'm leaning in favor of Dinklage playing Pip, another possibility is Eitri the Dwarf King of the Asgardian nine realms. The dwaves are master forgers, and Thor does find himself with a new weapon in this movie.

This would certainly be an interesting and timely possibility. Could even be more of a cameo than a proper role (Matt Damon and Sam Neill in Ragnarok).

The problem I have with the Pip hypothesis is how does he fit into the film? He'd almost have to be either a flashback, a minor side character, or an end credits stinger character. Because, quite frankly, I don't think they have the run time to be introducing new major players. You've already got so many characters that I wonder how they'll manage to do justice by them. (Or if they'll even honestly try to, and not just have a bunch of glorified cameos.) And is it worth even throwing Pip in if you can't do anything with him? The one exception being if they use him as the stinger cameo, setting up whatever Avengers 4 is going to be, as he'd presumably be around more in the fourth one.

Because don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Pip the Troll. And even more so Adam Warlock, who I'm still disappointed it looks like we may not get until GotG 3, if even then. It just feels like a movie that risks cast bloat as much as Infinity War should be careful about introducing even more new characters.

I'm trying to avoid it but I did ask my friend if either Hawkeye or Ant-Man are glimpsed in this trailer, he said no. And they're not even credited on the new poster at all. Even Wong is credited and appears on it.

They mustn't be in the movie much. Poor Hawkeye, never gets any love

With Ant-Man & the Wasp being so close to release as well, maybe there are story reasons not to include him here.

Hawk Eye is just not on that level anymore.
Probably a cameo appearance to save someone and that‘s it.
You have to wonder about how Black Widow is doing? Moral support?

If he is playing Pip, then it would be weird not to have Warlock.
He can always return later if they want the characters to team up (either in an Adam Warlock spinoff or an Infinity Watch spinoff).

He spoilers it already way back...

I demand this be an official poster or at least have Renner sign it during the red carpet haha

The Prelude comic has some information on what Hawkeye is ... and that is being retired and with his family.

There have been photos of Clint in his Ronin costume

Their holding a lot close to the chest..so maybe Hawkeye and Antman have a bigger role to play in the movie and their keeping it secret.

He's not at that level anymore? I really find it hard to believe that Jeremy Renner would give up co-starring in "Mission: Impossible - Fallout" in order to make a brief appearance or two in "Infinity War". That would be ridiculous.

Btw just a thought re: Peter Dinklage. Is it possible he's voicing one of the Black Order characters, or something like that. I know there was that list of actors said to be voicing them last week, but I don't think they were confirmed. Suppose it would explain why he's not been seen on set or anything. Time will tell..

I've been thinking about the character count since the trailer came out and I've decided to give it another run now that we have more information about who may or may not be in it. Plus last time around, we didn't have Black Panther, Ragnarok, and Homecoming to work off of yet.

Confirmed (38)
Iron Man
Captain America
Thor
Hulk
Black Widow
Hawkeye
Loki
Dr. Strange
Black Panther
Spider-Man
Scarlet Witch
Vision
War Machine
Falcon
Ant-Man
Bucky
Heimdall
Wong
Star-Lord
Gamora
Drax
Rocket
Groot
Mantis
Nebula
Thanos
The Collector
Valkyrie
Shuri
Okoye
Ramonda
M'Baku
Ayo
Pepper
Maria Hill
Ned (Homecoming)
Sally (Homecoming)
Stan Lee

Unconfirmed but seems probable (4)
Fury (correct me if I'm wrong here, but he's not listed in the Wikipedia article)
FRIDAY
KAREN
Happy

Unconfirmed but seems possible (7)
MJ (if some of Peter's classmates appear in a cameo, why not her?)
May (same)
Nakia
W'Kabi (but probably not)
Korg (if only briefly at the beginning with the rest of Ragnarok gang)
Everett Ross (Freeman says he'll be in more movies but hasn't said which)
General Ross

IMDb cast list speculation (3)
Cindy (Homecoming)
Laura Barton
Jack Rollins (Winter Soldier)
(Also lists Happy and FRIDAY)

Are they part of the count? (5)
Corvus Glaive
Proxima Midnight
Ebony Maw
Cull Obsidian
Peter Dinklage's character

Confirmed not in the film (3)
Agent 13
Wasp
Captain Marvel

Wild speculation and probably won't happen (15)
Daredevil
Jessica Jones
Trish Walker
Luke Cage
Missy Knight
Iron Fist
Colleen Wing
The Punisher
Coulson
Daisy
May
Fitz
Simmons
Mack
Yo-Yo

Even we count all of the probable, possible, IMDb-listed, and are-they-part-of-the-count characters, that still only comes up to 57 characters, which falls short of the rumored 60-plus characters. Maybe there are a few other ancillary characters who appear for a brief moment like the Homecoming and Black Panther characters? And I'm sure I've managed to forget someone from one of these lists.

Now that's how you do a mega-poster.

Nice touch with Hawkeye and Ant-Man on the news, which might a hint to the film. Plus Coulson slipped on the other TV set, unbeknown to everyone else.

So Wasp and Ant-Man are hanging out on Hawkeye's arrow...but is that also Scott Lang?

I'm not positive, but I think I just saw a story about the end of Ant-Man & The Wasp leading into his or their role in Infinity War.
I can't find the link right at the moment, but I've read that Hawk I will have a solo arc running throughout the movie.
I read the same thing.

I can't remember which for sure, but I saw a headline on either CBR or Io9 about Fury not being in Infinity War.
