I'm annoyed that it's on opposite Doctor Who. I'm watching it and taping DW, because if something goes wrong with my tape, I'll be able to catch a rebroadcast of DW a few hours later, whereas I doubt the Avatar season premiere will get a second airing anytime soon.
Wait a minute... 8:00? Zap2It says it's at 8:30.

Huh? I'm in the Eastern time zone myself, but my schedule only shows one broadcast of Avatar, with no repeat.
I also like how the animation chages to show them aging.V said:
I will be watching; recently saw seasons 1 and 2 for first time in marathon. The quality of the writing on that show is incredible.
I never noticed the characters aging, though they do change their hair styles. If they plan to go with some actual physical aging, then that should be interesting. I don't know of any animated shows that have done that.exodus said:

For example: during last season yo can clearly see Zuko's hair growing in little by little as well as Uncle Iro's beard growing in more and more while they're on the run.
I also heard this season the kids like Ang, Katarra and the rest will also look older.

I don't think it's fair to call Avatar a pseudo-anime show. Although it is influenced by anime shows and films (especially Miyazaki) along with Asian culture in general, it's far from simply being an imitation of something else. It's something fresh and original all its own.

Totally Spies and Code Lyoko pretty much the same thing style wise.

The same as Avatar??? Oh, gods, no. Not even close. For one thing, Avatar is far better animated. For another... my god, have you even looked at them? Totally Spies is a fairly slavish imitation of a conventional bishojo anime style. Avatar has a distinctive look whose closest equivalent in anime is the canon of Hayao Miyazaki, but in which the character design style is a blend of Western and Asian cartoon conventions. Code Lyoko has a bizarre character design style all its own, with angular features and enormous foreheads, totally unlike anything else.
Yes, they're all more or less influenced by anime styles, but they all do very different things with that influence. They're not "pretty much the same" any more than jazz, rockabilly, and heavy metal are pretty much the same. At most there's a common ancestor.
