Avatar plagiarizes Delgo?

I doubt the Delgo people could even sue. One day's worth of attorney fees would be more than their movie grossed.

Yeah because Delgo was the first movie ever to feature creatures riding flying creatures, and floating islands.

Cameron's early scriptment has been leaked for many years now... And apparently the movie is following it pretty closely. So I doubt Cameron has anything to worry about in the "being sued" department.

Indeed.

Slightly more worrying for Cameron, from a PR standpoint, is having his $300 million pet project publicly compared to a shitty film that was a total flop. Let's hope the similarities don't extend to the quality.

I never saw Delgo, but when I see Avatar I'm apparently going to see an exact duplicate. It'll be a real time saver. Now if only James Cameron would just get over his insane spell that he's been in since Titanic.

Those islands reminded me strongly of Hayao Miyazaki's Castle in the Sky which I doubt originated the concept either.

Holy shit. Even if Cameron wrote the screenplay so many years ago... so many of those shots have identical composition and design...

no its just that when you make a Dances with Wolves type story(white ignorant guy meets native gal & she teaches him her new age ways & to love nature, primitive culture blah blah blah) your going to get a lot of similar story beats...

I bet you could take stills from Pocahontas, Atlantis, Ferngully, & Princess Mononoke & find similar looking stills from Avatar same way this guy did for Delgo...

interesting that all these films are animated & one of the big complaints about the film is that it looks like a cartoon.

Of course, as Harlan Elison knows, James Cameron has plagerized before. That's why his name had to be added to the credits of Terminator after he sued.

And the way Cameron added them, it was as if he was giving the least amount of space and credit to Ellison possible.

Lucky for Cameron the guys who did "Them!" were either all dead or nearly dead when he did Aliens.

:guffaw: I don't know why, but that just made me LAUGH!:guffaw:

Did you guys see the trailer...Cameron promised no cartoon-like animation, but that what it looks like to me. I was looking forward to Avatar but I don't do cartoons. Or is it just me?
No it's not just you. The very second I saw the CGI ''Navi'' (is that what those blue folk are called?) I said ''This looks like a Video Game'':wtf: I think Cameron has a giant BOMB on his hands. I'm starting to think that the only reason Cameron is doing this movie in 3-D is so people are distracted from the poor story & less then steller CG!

No I'm not, but I mean we see 2 minutes of a 2.5 hour movie and everyone is attacking the poor guy.

This isn't like Stargate where the same losers are making new things, this guy is one of the most famous dicators in history.
