August 08 Challenge - "The Unexpected Guest"

Hey, no... I said it first!

Did too!

What?

Where?

Mistral's story thread. At least I think I did... The screen was a bit blurry because his story made me cry. I meant to :p

Hmm....

I call shenanigans. What you actually said was:

I've a feeling that this is the month we get to find out what this doozy of a challenge you keep promising us is.

That means: you were the first to imply it. But I was the first to actually say it.

So :angryrazz:

Hehe. :angryrazz: What a great new smilie.

OK, you guys have me laughing so hard my sides hurt. CL, thanks for the vote of confidence-although the underdog/sympathy comment, well, there are good stories out there that get beaten by other good stories and I sometimes think its due to who wrote it. I cite The Conversation from a couple months ago as a great example. Don't remember who won but that little story was, IMO, better than anything the rest of us posted that month. Meh, it happens. We'll just have to wait and see-and as was pointed out, its not the 29th yet so we still haven't heard from Starkers!

As CaptCalhoun sits at his computer pounding away, a MicroMachine RC wheels unnoticed into the room and comes to a rest under his chair. The small block of C-4 taped to the roof of the vehicle glistens in the sickly glow of his lamp.
Outside in the street, Mistral pulls the small radio transmitter out of his pocket...

And over in Happyland, where the sun shines hotter than here and the trees grow a hundred feet tall, Mr Happy got together with Mr Quiet, Mr Rush, Mr Tickle and Mr Mischief and slowly, they drew up their plans...

Mistral was somewhat surprised when the detonator completely failed to work. his surprised grew when the Micro Machine arced through the air, bounced off his shoulder and detonated...

And over in Happyland, where the sun shines hotter than here and the trees grow a hundred feet tall, Mr Happy got together with Mr Quiet, Mr Rush, Mr Tickle and Mr Mischief and slowly, they drew up their plans...

Mr Happy drew the meeting to order, "So, we're all agreed - Mistral's the biggest threat?"

Mr Rush agreed, "Definitely! I mean, the story made herself cry!"

Mir Mischief nudged Mr Tickle, "Not that hard," he whispered, "she cries at Mr Quiet asking for cornflakes..."

Mr Quiet looked up, "Careful." he said, quietly.

Mr Quiet was the smallest Man in the room, but when he spoke you knew where the real power was in the room.

He turned to Mr Happy, "Call Mr Small. Tell him we have a "small job" for him."

Okay, I'm done spamming up the thread now :o:p

It had taken him a long time to find Happyland but he was finally here. Looking at the gathering of little "people" in front of him, he paused for just a moment before finishing the task the evil Mistral had sent him on. Then he bellowed out his favorite tagline, "Hulk smash!" and went to work.

And I, too, am done spamming it up.;)

:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

It suddenly occurred to TLR that he had somehow, someway, completely lost any semblance of control over the challenge thread.

When did it all go so horribly sideways?, he mused pensively. After a nano-second of consternation, he decided to let the fates sort it all out.

The crisis resolved to his satisfaction, TLR shoved back from the computer, stood and moved purposefully toward the kitchen in search of liquid refreshment.
