Audience Reception of a Film: What Do YOU Remember?

When the Transformers movie came out in 1986, I was in the Army and saw it in a theater packed with GIs. These guys all went bananas when Spike said his famous line. You know, "that line".

There was a special showing of The Exorcist one night at my school in the mid-eighties, back when it was unavailable on video. There was a momentary hitch or power cut about halfway through and the audience started hooting and stamping their feet. The film had 't been too exciting up to that point, but it did make up for it later on.

An early showing of The Fellowship Of The Ring produced applause at the end credits and about ten minutes beforehand during that climactic battle. The Return Of The King had hero moment after hero moment, as if the writers were addicted to crowd-pleasers.
