attention girls: embrace your inner...

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

aladdin was the one where people who clearly didn't speak english thought he said "take off your clothes" instead of "take off and go" to the tiger he wanted to, um, not eat him.

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

And then that movie was edited in the video version...
The song, "Arabian nights..."

I thought that was "The Little Mermaid..."

May have been. It's been a number of years. I just remember the bruha, the fact that you had to look at it just right, and that the first thought that went through my mind was "Someone has WAY to much idle time on their hands to have actually found this"

Then I looked at which legislators were making the most noise and said "No wonder "

i cringe every time i see a commercial that uses blue fluid.
 Can you imagine how many men (and women, too, really) would totally freak out if the commercial used red fluid?

While I would have no problem with it personally, I think about half of our legislators would be screaming bloody murder in the press

Little Mermaid had the phallic castle towers. Aladdin had the innuendo. The Lion King had the blowing leaves that spelled SEX across the screen.

It was a very stimulating time for Disney. ;)

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

^Oh man, I remember all that! I was actually a preteen at the time. Very stimulating time for Disney, indeed ;)

I'm not familiar with these incidents aside from what I've just read in this thread. Did the illustrators really try to sneak sexual imagery into children's programming? And if so, am I really the only one here who thinks that's a really shitty thing to do?

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

^Most of them aren't on purpose (check out snopes). But in The Rescuers there is a frame where the bare chest of a woman (real, not cartoon) is visible in a window.

i have a really hard time believing they did. it seems to me that they just drew, and it just happened to look like [whatever], and people went bonkers because they had too much imagination.

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

^ Yes, that's pretty much what I was thinking (and certainly hoping!) was the case – someone thinking they see something that's not really there.

Hell, you know me. I'll post a sexual innuendo at the drop of a hat. But, geez, not in front of the kids!

And, trekkiebaggio, thanks for the heads-up on Snopes. I’ll check them out.

In Lion King, it says SFX, not SEX, in the blowing leaves (a shout out to the SFX department). I've heard the Aladdin clip and the presence of sexual innuendo is questionable at best. People claim that in one scene Aladdin whispers under his breath, "Good teenagers, take off your clothes." However, Disney says the script read, "C'mon...good kitty. Take off and go." It is difficult to hear what is being said, but honestly it sounded more like the second line to me. And it could be argued that one of the castle pillars in The Little Mermaid looks rather phallic, but the artist claims that he drew it late at night when he was very tired and being rushed to complete the artwork, and didn't even notice the resemblance until over a year later. There is also a claim that near the end of the movie, the minister on the ship has a large bulge in his pants, but this is supposed to be his knee, not a penis.

My level of Disney knowledge is almost disturbing.

Of course they did it on purpose...and clouds try to look like kittens.

and then there's the fact that when aladdin says that line, rajah is about to eat him. it's always those minor details.

well, obviously they don't try to look like kittens. they try to look like sheep. duh. :p

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

I really do believe that the folks at Disney weren't trying to brainwash kids into having sex. I think it's funny what people will find when they make up their minds to find it.

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

It's a *tower*, of course it's going to look a little phallic.

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

*insert something about the washington monument here*

ok girls. i've decided i want over-the-knee boots. however, i'm poor and don't wear leather. that should make looking for them more entertaining.

eta: if these weren't leather, i'd consider them, even though they're expensive. :p

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

^ I suppose actually saying that I want to see a pic of you in them when you get them is not even necessary at this point, is it? :D

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

i remembered how much i hate having my knees restrained, so my desire for over-the-knee boots is decreasing. :p

anyway, wanted to let (some) girls know that lunapads has redesigned their site. i just found 2 new fabrics i want (cocoa kaleidoscope and bubble mosaic), even though reality dictates that i don't need anything more. oh, and kimc, you might like the hats and heels fabric. :D
