attention girls: embrace your inner...

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

*kisses Jonas*

lunablankets aren't nearly as scary as lunapads. :D

eta: yay, i just heard that my friend is in labor!! let's all hope this doesn't last too long.....

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

^Wow! Is it her first? Congrats to her!

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

yup, it's her first. and she's HUGE. it's another week or 2 until the due date, but if you saw my friend, you'd think she was months overdue. with octuplets. :p

i'm a bit concerned because she's doing the single mom thing as a grad student, but she seems to know what she's doing...

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

^I know somebody who is a friend of someone who was in her exact situation, and things worked out great for her. She had to work fairly hard to get it done, but she successfully earned her degree from Harvard while being a single mom. It can be done. :)

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

we're all very protective of her, so i think that will definitely help. and her parents seem to be very supportive too.

she's been pretty lucky. she hasn't really gotten much crap about it from anyone, even though she was somewhat expecting it. she notices that people look at her hand to check for a wedding ring when she goes out, but beyond that, almost no one has said anything to her. the more religious branches of her family started to, but she pointed out that she could either have a baby out of wedlock or have an abortion, so they're ok with her choice. :p

the department has been really supportive and protective of her, so i think that has helped her a lot too. she was really worried about how they'd react, but everyone's been really great (at least to her face).

i'm all excited for her. she's had reproductive system problems in the past, so fertility was never a guarantee with her, which is pretty much THE reason she decided to keep it.

Listen, I want you guys to know that my being absent so much these days is not by design. It's all circumstance! :scream: ;)

What can I say? I couldn't find a Hoshi thread in the ENT Forum! ;)

Hi Jonas. My uterus is on the rampage this morning. Just thought you'd be glad to know! :)
If nothing else, this thread always reminds me of why I should never bitch about being male!

BTW, nice to see another Rear Admiral, Ohappydagger! I was afraid everyone I knew had vanished into the Vice Lounge by now! ;)

I am becoming way too fond of cyberkisses...and it's mostly daeana's fault! ;)

Hey, I've never been scared of lunapads! Pookha's avatar, OTOH...that I'm scared of! :D

BTW, daeana, I have to ask...how long is the hair now? ;)

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

Oh, thank God! I was wondering where this thread was... :)
The hair isn't as bad as I thought... And thanks to a lot of biotin and vitamin E in my diet, I'm thickening it!

still mid-calf. it won't grow anymore!! :scream: :D

yay, my friend's baby came out (so she wasn't in labor too long). it's a girl. and only 7 lb 13 oz. i was kinda expecting a whole lot more.

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

7 lb 13 oz is a very good size for a baby. You said she was two weeks early? In the last month, the baby is supposed to gain about half a pound each week.

I'm letting my hair grow out right now. Of course it's nowhere near as long as daeana's. Mine is about shoulder-length. ;) I've never had hair past my waist, so this will be an interesting experiment.

Ah, so you've attained a sort of equilibrium, eh? Be happy! Many people strive their whole lives and never achieve balance! :D

I'm glad it's still mid-calf, though. Your exquisitely long hair has become one of my touchstones for this board - one of the things I verify still exists whenever I get back here.

Although...I am losing my touch, I think. Normally, I would have already checked the current picture thread to see you had posted any new pics, and I haven't...even yet! I must be getting old! :D

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

you know, it occurs to me that i've never actually met someone (in person) who has hair at least as long as mine.

my hair is a constant for people who've known me for a while. when i run into people i haven't seen for a long time, they're always like "oh, good, the hair's still there!!" i'm not sure what that says about me... :vulcan:

and don't worry Jonas, i haven't posted any pics in a long time. :D

I'm not surprised by that. I suspect it's pretty rare. I would imagine most people wouldn't have the patience - or even the skill - to manage hair that long. ;)

I haven't met anyone with hair that long either. :D

Sad news for many of us, I'm sure. ;) :)

I was holding my coworkers grandchild today :D 17 days old little charmer (ok he mostly slept and tried to see if i was offering food  ) Totally adorable little boy..

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

my friend posted a pic of her baby. she has a full head of really dark hair. it's rather amazing.

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

When I was born I had an inch of black hair. It fell out and then blonde hair grew in. Weird

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

i had like no hair when i was born. i'm making up for that now.

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

This thread is good for something. My cycle appearantly listened to my complaints the last time I was in here and my being about to start early turned into a false alarm and my uterus waited until it was supposed to go...finishing just before a week from down below. Yay!

And now that the week from down below that followed has ended, I can honestly say that stress, uncertainty, and illness suck worse than my cycle. In fact, I told a friend that if I had still been on my period during that week to boot, I would have wanted to bleed to death.

I'm visiting family now, and if one (or both) of my part-time job opportunities will just come through...and I can afford to get home...and I can live until my first paycheck...then everything will be great. I can always find a second if I don't get both of them. I just need something so that I can get by.

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

YAY! My hairstylist says that my hair's starting to thicken... and where it's thin, my perm will hide it!

Re: attention girls: embrace your inner twitch.

PW, why were your hair thin?

*lost lots of her thickness two years ago while being sick*
