But you smell like Carrot Top.
I was raised by atheists, am an atheist, despite going to a Catholic high school and a Quaker college.
Not only that, he’s pithed!Isn't his god thor?
In a small Texas town, ( Mt. Vernon ) Drummond’s bar began construction on a new building to increase their business.. The local Baptist church started a campaign to block the bar from opening with petitions and prayers. Work progressed right up till the week before opening when lightning struck the bar and it burned to the ground.
The church folks were rather smug in their outlook after that, until the bar owner sued the church on the grounds that the church was ultimately responsible for the demise of his building, either through direct or indirect actions or means.
The church vehemently denied all responsibility or any connection to the building's demise in its reply to the court.
As the case made its way into court, the judge looked over the paperwork. At the hearing he commented, “I don't know how I’m going to decide this, but as it appears from the paperwork, we have a bar owner who believes in the power of prayer, and an entire church congregation that does not.”
Those people are idiots, if they really believed their prayers caused the fire they should have loudly pleased guilty.

Yep. I doubt they believed. They were probably just being asses, and once it happened, realized that being such an open, public ass came with a price. THAT'S when they want to push it off on god. They should have been smarter and read Matthew 6:5. Goes both ways.

Really, you doubt they believed that their prayers were why the place burned down? I have no trouble believing they believed it. That's why I find their denial so odious. They really missed an opportunity there, rejoicing in having a hand in smiting and rejoicing in being persecuted for the smiting.
Well I bet they did not believe lightening was going to do it but rather thought some permit difficulties or money and/or personal difficulties on the part of the bar owner would shut it down. Had it been any of those things the bar owner would not have been able to bring the case I think.
I was once the focus of a 6 month world wide prayer chain campaign against me. It made me a bit sad because it felt so icky but everything they were praying against happened not only smoothly but insanely smoothly. Had anyone been praying for it they would have considered the ease of these events to be a sign from God, LOLOL
